It's probably cheaper to buy the dresses in the end but not so much satisfaction, sadly. |

I would have a look on Ebay - there are often good bargains for second hand sewing machines where I think people think they are going to 'get sewing' and it doesn't happen so they sell a hardly used machine for very little. |

lavender- I would only buy something like a sewing machine that was local enough to be able to collect and then you can make sure you see it working before you pay for it. if it doesn't work to your satisfaction don't actually purchase it. A genuine seller will be quite happy to show it to you working. If they are not then I wouldn't purchase |

I have an ancient Singer given me by a GreatAunt when I was 12, I think I had it serviced once. Still use it now and then, o.h needs his new jimjam trousers shortened cos he's little so will get it out soon. I should get it serviced again I think and that's probably all yours needs. Otherwise look on Gumtree or ask for one on there, might remind someone there is a redundant machine at the back of a cupboard. Lidls or Aldi sometimes sell new machines. |

It is certainly a thought, Linda. I will have a look to see if there are any in my area. I'm not in any hurry. I'm wondering if I shall get over this 'itch to stitch'! |
