You should chopping them in a bowl of water. The gas they release dissolves in the water in the bowl instead of in the water in your eyes. ;-)

Guessing that it saves time in the future, and you're not left with part of a raw onion if you only want a bit.

I can't understand why anyone would want to freeze onions. They keep very well in a mesh bag for at least 6 months. I would much rather use a fresh onion for my cooking than frozen ones. Freezing not only detracts from the taste but completely ruins the texture. Could someone explain to me why they would freeze onions?

I cut up a big onion for our steak dinner last Saturday . Yesterday I was aware when puttng my had to mouth when I coughed that they still had a whiff of onion to them

Think this Saturdays dinner will be without onions if it's pork chops chips etc

I've tried just about everything...... whistling, match between the teeth, not cutting off the onion root, keeping the onions in the fridge first............ I wear glasses, and that seems to make it worse, because my glasses fog up.

I cut up 4 big onions the other day, and was a wet mess, so you have my sympathy having to slice & dice a big bagful.

DH loves caramelised onions......... I should make HIM cut up the onions.

Now I just make sure I'm not wearing eye makeup (especially mascara).
