:-(

It's 8 in the morning, and already 26C :-( :-(

This is the hottest summer we've had since we moved here. Very rarely does the temperature go above the low 30s. This week we've had well over 35C.

A thunderstorm is predicted for later today, hopefuly it will cool things down a bit......... but if the storm brings rain, and more heat :-( it will be horribly humid.

We used to live much further south, where the summer temperatures rose to well over 40C, but without the humidity. Not sure what's worse!

in the north east of England its freezing :-(

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 17 Jan 2015 21:38

It's hot here too Scozz - very humid. We don't normally get such hot weather without a southerly change coming through but it's not happening :-(

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 17 Jan 2015 21:39

Can't stand humidity. That's probably why we British moan when our temps get to the mid 20s or higher. It's much easier to tolerate dry heat......as long as you don't get dehydrated.

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 17 Jan 2015 21:43

The humidity is definately worse than the heat.

AnnCardiff

AnnCardiff Report 17 Jan 2015 22:25

well for the record it's perishin' here in South Wales :-(

LadyScozz

LadyScozz Report 17 Jan 2015 23:16

Perishin' in Old South Wales, and hot & sticky in New South Wales.

It's just gone 10am, and the temp is 28C in the shade :-(

The lizards are all hiding in the undergrowth.

I used to live in South Australia, it got hotter there, but a dry heat.

I'm in far north NSW, and the humidity is awful in January.

I'm wearing a sarong & knickers!

When is that storm getting here?

LadyScozz

LadyScozz Report 18 Jan 2015 01:00

nearly noon

not a good day

There's a helicopter circling...... which means only one thing to me..... there must be a shark! Our beach is on my avatar.

It's flat calm out there, so there should be nobody surfing.

Allan

Allan Report 18 Jan 2015 01:37

Scozz, a max of 29 forecast for today, and it is already 31C. Not humid at the moment but the clouds are beginning to form :-(

The temps this weekend have all exceeded the forecast maximums, and we have bee trying to spread 6 cu metres of gravel on our front verge. It's nearly all done but we can't finish until we get a wheelbarrow.

Once spread we then have to compact it

LadyScozz

LadyScozz Report 18 Jan 2015 02:13

Does it get hot & humid often on the SW coast Allan?

I expect humid conditons in the sub-tropics, but January always floors me.... at the rate we're going, I expect February should also be humid :-(

Just wondering....... isn't there a place near you where you could hire a wheelbarrow for a few days? Bunnings have a hire shop.

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 18 Jan 2015 08:03

It has turned into a really nice day. Very warm but a nice breeze a'blowin'. It's overcast now and there is rumbling over the mountains so I should imagine we will get a storm. I don't mind :-)

LadyScozz

LadyScozz Report 18 Jan 2015 08:39

It's calm here, no breeze at all. The calm before the storm?

I hate the humidity. I'm sure it makes arthritis worse, I'm a limp, limping wreck today.

 Sue In Yorkshire.

Sue In Yorkshire. Report 18 Jan 2015 12:13

Send some sun and heat over here please as we need the ice melting so I can get out.
It's also freezing in Yorkshire,temp got down to -4 during the night....as I live out in Rural.farming area now. :-D :-D :-D

'Emma' Report 18 Jan 2015 13:39

Send me some of your heat here Scozz it
does wonders for my arthritis, the cold here
at the moment is playing havoc with me.

LadyScozz

LadyScozz Report 18 Jan 2015 19:42

6.40am

The storm came in (I couldn't sleep, so watched it between 1 & 2 am) ....... over the ocean. Lots of lightning, I could hear distant thunder, but no rain. Looks like today is going to be another hot one.

I'd love to send some of the heat elsewhere :-D

Dry heat does wonders for arthritis, but hot & humid makes it worse.

Allan

Allan Report 18 Jan 2015 21:15

Scoz, my apologies for the late reply to your questions at 02.13.

Here on the SW coast it is humid, but not intolerably so, and certainly not as humid as the North West. When I was in the goldfields the heat was dry

Yesterday the see breeze should have come in but didn't :-(

It becomes more humid here once a tropical cyclone develops. There is an intense tropical low affecting the Kimberleys, where recent rainfalls have been of the order of 100mm; there is the possibility that this could develop into a cyclone.

As for the wheelbarrow, my daughter and her partner brought over theirs, together with the wacker packer. All completed before lunch :-D

LadyScozz

LadyScozz Report 18 Jan 2015 21:27

Well done Allan......... or daughter & partner :-D Who did it?

I know Mrs Allan was the foreman :-D

Not going to be nice at all today...... we usually have a sea view, but it's so hazy the sky & the sea look the same.

I hope WA doesn't get a cyclone!!!

Allan

Allan Report 18 Jan 2015 21:34

Scozz, we all did it

We didn't know, but daughter and her partner drove past on Saturday morning. They were amazed at how much gravel we had spread, and were even more amazed yesterday, when they arrived to help :-D

LadyScozz

LadyScozz Report 18 Jan 2015 21:40

:-D

next question........

who made lunch?

or did you all go to the pub?

:-D

Allan

Allan Report 18 Jan 2015 21:53

We had a turkey hindquarter, again a joint venture :-D
