I might try adding a dash of Dettol to the chamomile tea.

I don't understand how mosquitoes can get to DH's ankles....... his legs are so hairy, it would be like getting through the jungle.

I made up a batch of Chamomile tea (triple strength) & added a few cloves.

DH used it yesterday, while he was playing golf.

He said it kept the mosquitoes & midges away, but all day he was bothered by horse flies!

I believe that insect repellents are often made with Rubbing alcohol, which would be inexpensive. You can also use witch hazel or vodka, along with essential oil. I have never made it but know of people who do so regularly, and much prefer using it as opposed to a chemical repellent.

Not a repellent, but he/she is getting rid of some mozzies (and flies, moths, etc).

There's a huge spider web between two branches, outside at the back ..... with a great big brown stripey spider lurking in the middle.... a biggie, I can see the eyes!

He/she must be planning a party with his spidefriends, because there are loads of little wrapped packages all over the web.

Spiders are welcome, if they stay in the trees, but NOT in the house or on our back porch/verandah/deck.

I've used the Avon SSS oil with a dash of dettol...... not sure if that works any more either :-( When we sit outside in the evening I burn incense (fav is sandalwood), that keeps the mozzies away....... haven't figured out how to wear a burning incense stick.

DH uses a "Bush Strength" mozzie repellent....... can't say that works either! And.... it stinks. It keeps people away :-)

Thought mine would be a bit tough by now lol

I have used the Avon spray before now but not sure it works against the blighters anymore

awwww Liz, remember........ they only go for the sweet meat :-D

That's sounds good too, will try all remedies in summer, I get badly affected by the mozzie bites, darned things.

I found a cheaper version this morning......

make some Chamomile tea, 3 times stronger than usual. Let it cool.

Recommended to put in a spray bottle & use on your legs & arms.

I wonder if it works on midges? They love my ankles. :-(
