I used to love the American style breakfast of buttermilk pancakes, bacon, sausage, with maple syrup, as a treat ...................... but I do NOT add jam to the "biscuit"

BTW .............. the "biscuit" is really a savoury type of bun, not the UK biscuit :-)

now, I'm dairy-intolerant, so I can't have them.

we make English-style pancakes from scratch, using a 50-50 (or 50-40) mix of soy milk and water ....... OOPS ...... 50/50 or 60/40 :-)

but that doesn't work for buttermilk pancakes :-)

it is only just after noon here, so we haven't had our pancakes ........... we will be having them for dinner :-)

with lemon juice and sugar.

OH tosses his, I turn mine with a spatula

I could never understand some breakfasts in the US....... bacon, egg, sausage, pancakes etc.......... cover everything with maple syrup & scoop it up with a "biscuit" covered with jam.

No, I did NOT have it...... neither did DH.

:-0

btw....... we didn't have pancakes for dessert...... we didn't have ANY dessert :-(

Americans are very fond of their food - that much I have learned from my relations over yonder. And they have some amazing concoctions too.

The saying over there is that bacon makes everything taste better. For example, bacon flavoured milkshakes are readily available as well as bacon flavoured syrup & vanilla ice-cream. Or, if you prefer, you can fill up with chocolate coated bacon slices.

The one American 'stunt food' that caught my attention is the 'Double Down' consisting of a bacon & cheese sandwich with two pieces of fried chicken instead of bread.

Homer Simpson would feel at home with that tasty invention & so would I.

Similar reaction here Liz

I asked if he'd like some, and my MOG said "Why?" and laughed.

Then he said..... "Oh right, it's shrub Tuesday"
