White bread, brown bread. toasted or not, brown sauce, red sauce no sauce at all.

My preference is 50/50 sliced bread with brown sauce. Hubby goes for white sliced bread with sweet chilli sauce.

Americans are very fond of their food - that much I have learned from my relations over yonder. And they have some amazing concoctions too. The saying over there is that bacon makes everything taste better.

For example, bacon flavoured milkshakes are readily available as well as bacon flavoured syrup & vanilla ice-cream. Or, if you prefer, you can fill up with chocolate coated bacon slices.

The one American 'stunt food' that caught my attention is the 'Double Down' consisting of a bacon & cheese sandwich with two pieces of fried chicken instead of bread.

I guess we have different tastes this side of the Atlantic.

I can't imagine a bacon sandwich made with bread, it has to be toast, preferably white and absolutely NO sauce.

Now a different kettle of fish is the bacon & tomato sandwiches in the summertime made with a tomato fresh from the garden and slathered with mayo, again on toast not bread.

Any bread, toasted or otherwise.
Lots of butter but never.... with sauce. Yeuch!

(I made pancakes with smoked bacon and maple syrup for lunch on Tuesday)

The bread or roll or barmcake MUST be warm, bacon must be lean(no fat) and WITHOUT sauce of any kind.

It must be back bacon, cos I detest bacon fat, hate streaky bacon.

Lightly toasted bread, NO butter........ favourite is pumpkin seed bread....... bacon with a runny poached egg...... and NO sauce.

MargaretM Report 27 Feb 2015 22:02

Aw, Prickly Holly, you know what I meant. The bread has to be toasted!

And, Island, if you don't know what WTF means perhaps you shouldn't use it. It certainly doesn't mean "What the heck"
