I'm now trying to trace my grandmother's father, one Alfred Whitmore. I have searched various census for him as head of household but have found no results. It's quite a common name so I have used Fred and Alf too. I have no idea where to go from here apart from searching for his surname only, which might be a long haul. My grandmother, Lily Alice Whitmore, was born in 1893/4 so I've been through the next two census, 1901/11.When Lily Alice was married in 1920 he was shown as deceased. Would anyone have any suggestions where I should go from here?
Thank you
Shelley
