AH! the dreaded yahoo mailbox!!

oldbean Report 20 Mar 2015 22:09

I have managed by hook or by crook to delete my emails. Thank you very much for all the help. I was hoping that it would enable me to accept new emails but a box saying that because of possible prolonged inactivity I am unable to get updated mail! I then decided to go through Yahoo and my nightmare began again with changed passwords etc! I really wish I hadn't bothered to be honest. Thank you again everyone anyway in my first quest. X

I take it you mean an email account that you have not used for some considerable time and never check on your iPad.

It depends on the email account, the client (ie Outlook) or whether you are using webmail.

don't know if this will work for you, but click on the heading "name"

that will/should put them all in alphabetical order, if they are spam types they'll be grouped together possibly.

there usually is a tick box alongside tick the first one, hold shift and tick the last one and they should all be set......then go delete.......

Assuming you mean your email account?
I have hotmail and would select 'view all' - top left just above the list of in mail - to highlight them then quickly look down the list and uncheck anything (with a left click) which I want to keep. Then click on 'delete'.

I'm not an expert, but I don't think you can be selective without looking at them one at a time. You can get rid of the lot, or singly, but no other options.

On our computer there is a little box to click alongside the email title (without actually opening it) so, if I had your problem, I would start with the most recent and click all the ones that looked as though I might want to keep them, then put them in a new folder and delete all the rest in one go. I could then go through the folder when I had time.

We have a second email address which we don't use, but have a look at it occasionally to get rid of all the junk that has accumulated. If we didn't we'd probably have your problem.

Good luck. :-) :-)

The only way really is to look at a full page at a time, quick check & then delete the whole lot if not needed Barbra

I am hoping that someone may be able to give advice on my laptop. I use an iPad generally but I needed to get on to my laptop to look for a file. It's been about a year plus since I have used it and was horrified to find 3000 + messages and similar in junk. I may need to keep the odd one or two until I can transfer to folders but could anyone help with how to get rid of the majority of messages quickly without laboriously clicking and highlighting. It is slowing everything down, constantly updating etc. then throwing me out saying error and error for updating latest messages. Sorry loads of text but here's hoping!
