Like Annx I've had a Kenwood Chef sine the early 60s which came with lots of attachments. I gave the potato peeler away as it took so long to peel the spuds and even longer to clean that it drove me mad. Rarely peel potatoes these days anyway. I broke the mincer trying to be clever and mince barley in it for wine making. But the basic bowl with whisk and dough hook and also the liquidiser are still used regularly.

Also like Annx I have a toasted sandwich maker that is sitting in the garage. I tried it a couple of times but found that if I put in the amount of filling I want in a toastie it leaked out everywhere.

A couple of years ago I was bought a small ice cream maker and I do use that quite a lot. Tomorrow I am going to use up half a jar of passion fruit curd I bought in a mad moment. Might taste OK as an ice cream flavouring. We particularly like marmalade ice cream using home made marmalade (less sweet than the shop ones). It makes a yummy "grown up" ice cream . :-D :-D :-D

I have just bought a nutribullet...I have used it twice and must admit it grinds everything at a much faster speed than my old kenwood and It doesn't take up much room...think it will be used quite a bit for smoothies...we will see!!
I'll give my old one to one of my grandchildren as I don't do a lot of baking these days..
Having said that I've just made a load of scones as had some milk and dried fruit to use up...,but they were just done in the bowl in no time
:-S

I have had a Kenwood since the 1960s! It has the dough hook, mincer and liquidiser attachments. I did get the potato peeler attachment as well, but it took ages to clean it so I sent it back. I then got a food processor, thinking it would do all that the Kenwood did and not tip the flour over the edge of the bowl. Also it would save a lot of cupboard space! Wrong........I ended up keeping both as the Kenwood is still best for doing some things. I ought to get rid of both as I hardly do any cooking now! :-S

I also have a sandwich toaster that has never been used. As soon as I bought it I decided I ought to eat more salad on my sandwiches and less meat and cheese........salad doesn't toast well does it? :-S

I've only used it a couple of times for making pies :-( didn't like it

The pies looked OK, but they were only half full. If you put too much filling in the pies they leak everywhere, and it's messy to clean up..... the top rises really well, but what's the point if the filling doesn't reach the top crust?

My food processor is supposed to do everything. Hah!

The way it grates vegetables is weird, I don't like it; I still use my trusty old mandolin.. and that's 30 years old.

I've never cut myself on the mandolin, but I can understand how some people do :-(

Please can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong here ?
My family like vegetable soup made with grated veg

I have an old food processor but the grating attachment snapped.
Spares are no longer available so I can't replace it.

A couple of years ago, they bought me a new machine....
A Kenwood Master Pro.

The grater attachment is quite a bit smaller in diameter to the actual mixing bowl, and the funnel drop sits just almost above the edge of the attachment

This means that less half a vegetable grates before the ungrated portion flies over the edge of the attachment and into the bowl.

Everything else about the machine is really good except the grating/slicing attachments.
Is it a design fault or am I missing something?

I have reverted to grating by hand :-( :-( :-(

I don't know where you live or even if you ever wanted another one Bob, but the place to go is the Kenwood factory in New Lane at Havant.

They have an outlet shop there with just about everything they make, including the chefs (drool, drool!) at very good discounts.

We had a Kenwood chef, years ago, (it was second hand then,)and we loaned it to our daughter, after a couple of years we asked for it back, and the reply was.......

Oh! we broke the bowl, so we binned it!!

'Emma' Report 7 Apr 2015 15:46

OH complained about cleaning the inside windows
with glass cleaner and kitchen towels, had been
doing them like that for years.

Wanted a Karcher window cleaner that he saw
advertised on TV.

Used it twice and yes you've guessed it, back to
glass cleaner and kitchen towel.

Son now has the Karcher.

Sitting here in my wee computer room ....
next to divided unit containing hundreds of LPs and vinyl singles.
On top of the unit are 2 pieces of kit, both at least 7yrs old ( and both needing a good dusting!)

A USB turntable, and a tape machine thingy

Both are for converting music to digital format and each used only a handful of times.
OH says that one day, he will get around to converting all his music.

I wonder how much of this has he already obtained from iTunes ??

I want a Kenwood Chef.

We have a fifteen year old food processor and, any time it breaks down or we break it, we debate as to whether we should replace it with the longed for Kenwood Chef.

Every time we trundle off to Kenwoods where they take it in and repair it for the cost of the parts and, while we are there delivering and collecting it, we have another drool over the Chefs in their factory shop.

One day.
