...... so far as I know, they will have to go back to the competitions board to get permission to roll GR into fmp, as they had to provide all kinds of promises that this would not happen before they were given permission to buy GR


so I'm pretty sure that we will hear or see something about that

I think GR's names are numbered, partly because a lot of us took up our trees when we first got broadband. A sudden rush to get trees started and the first place we looked was here.

Now 10 years or so down the line, people have lost interest; done what they can do and left it. Correction have been done on Ancestry, missing relations have been found.

Friendships have been made but transferred to Facebook. Sadly members have been lost as seen by the amount of stickies that appear on Chat.

GR don't help themselves, home page shows that Anthony Adolph will be available on 28th Feb, community manager has failed to make an appearance, their records are waste of time, Facebook takes priority over the paying members.

My feeling is that one day we'll find a Gedcom in an email, a couple of pound back on our credit card and a "RIP GR" on the internet.

I have said for a few years I'm not going to renew..... This time I may stick to it and not bother.. I only carried on after the initial 6 months 5 years ago, because I enjoyed helping people...... Now there are very few to help

I think they must be going to absorb GR into FMP.

Probably the technical staff are working on the integrated tree rather than enhancing/maintaining the GR one.

Rolled over to FMP and lost I can not see them even maintaining a basic free site , when they cant even maintain this one with paying customers the search engine on this site is a joke and thats just for starters.

OR will they return GR to more or less what it was when it started ....... a free site to build your tree?


as I see it ............. both options mean loss of all Boards, including Chat, as it costs money to keep the site functioning



I know I am being a pessimist hree, but I think this has been the aim all along



I've never had more than a standard sub, I've only looked briefly at the records as I much prefer to use other sites that I;ve found over the years (both free and requiring a sub), but I have enjoyed helping other members.

I think we all know how this site has deteriorated, and is not receiving the support that it needs.

Thank you Sylvia, I was beginning to think no one was going to answer me re WDYTYA..

I suppose it is down to us to make the boards better or lose them.

i keep thinking weather to bother renewing my subs
as i dont look in as much as i use to.
there dont seem to be any good fun threads as there use to be
and to many thread are being RR these days

and i miss my friends that use to post but have now sadly died

I pay a basic subscription and do search the records on here as it's convenient then confirm with other sites.

Have made some lifelong friends on here and met quite a few of them too.

I thinks it's worth my 5p per day.

I believe you have to work backwards, deleting children, then parents

they do not have a stand at WDYTYA, now on in Birmingham, but FMP does

I look in most days I postreduly on a couple of threads on other boards but rarely start a thread on chat but I join in now and then

theese days I keep away from political and anything that' looks as if I might cause trouble

hello folks, please can you tell me how to delete relatives I've doubled up on when adding to my family tree - I've tried deleting but am told I can't do this because they have parents spouse and children. Help please .
