I suppose a couple of party leaders might be looking for a job soon ;-) ;-)

Only two Mayfield ?

"Most of us do manage to live civilised non-violent lives."

Surbiton? Harrogate? Bromley?

I have lived and worked in such salubrious places as Los Angeles South Side, Santa Cruz, Baghdad, Sana'a, Beirut, Eastern Turkey, Chelyabinsk,.Aberdeen, Belfast and Fermanagh ... Singapore was nice though. As to the UK whatever Theresa May may claim there is far too much unprovoked street violence at any time of the day.

Sure fisticuffs at sundown are not the way to go for progam team leads neither is getting lippy at the end of a bad day with a hungry bad lad. It wouldn't get you far on either side of the water.

These things happen and both parties - who have known each other for donkey's years - were quite happy to let it go. Cohen had let it be known to all and sundry for a long time that he intended to "get" Clarkson as he believes that Clarkson is the antithesis of the wonderful works which Cohen is trying to bring to our screens.

It is remarkable that there his been little mention that should Brave Dave's lot hang on to power the day's of the BBC Charter in anything close to its present shape are numbered. That is why Newsnight put out glaringly incorrect stats every night claiming that the blue team is winning. The messenger usually gets shot.

enjoy fast four legged horses and country yokels with any kind of accent you like except Cornish :-)

He hit an employee!!

In any other business he would have been sacked on the spot.

No man is bigger than the show.

*Surbiton? Harrogate? Bromley?*

Warwickshire, actually. I have lived in and visited other places but have never seen any street violence, apart from on TV. *shrug*

The most violence I've been subjected to was from the police at anti-war demos in the 60s. They really were thugs.

A nice summer's day out in Warwickshire

Um. Birmingham isn't Warwickshire, Rollo, it's West Midlands. Surprised you didn't know that.

RolloTheRed

RolloTheRed Report 20 Apr 2015 11:41

Before all these make believe counties were created Birmingham was mostly in Warwickshire while the northern part was in Staffordshire. Bits of Warwickshire not within W.M. can be pretty toasty on a Friday/Saturday night e.g. Stratford but guess at 11:30pm G. watching telly ... but not old repeats of Top Gear.

In case you venture to Brum
http://www.expressandstar.com/news/2015/04/20/111-shootings-in-a-year-on-west-midlands-streets/

Our family have owned business property in Birmingham for well over 100 years - Handsworth (Staffs) and Sutton Coldfield (Warks.)

:-)

If I'm in Stratford at that time it's likely I've just been to see a play at the RSC - not known to be a hotbed of street violence.

I'm not denying that street violence happens, I've seen it on TV, it just isn't part of my every day life. Or most other people's, I'd have thought.

Writing in his column in the Sunday Times, Clarkson said:

“Two days before the ‘fracas’, I’d been told, sternly, by my doctor that the lump on my tongue was probably cancer and that I must get it checked out immediately. But I couldn't do that. We were in the middle of a Top Gear series. And Top Gear always came first.”

He confirmed he has since been given the all-clear.

I have two very very dear friends with cancer, who are both going through chemotherapy, plus other painful and invasive treatment. They both have had extremely stressful and demanding jobs. I can honestly say that no matter how stressed they have been they would never ever resort to punching a colleague in the face.

Edit: I have posted this on the wrong thread!

I live in an old rural council house, one of those in a row of six that were built to house farm workers.

It is tranquil and peaceful here and the tenants are all over forty, the oldest is ninety-five.

I knew somebody who lived in a council house in the town five miles away and life there was very different. Most people along our row are on drugs but we don't have to pay for them, our dealer delivers them in a white bag with Boots written on it.

Her husband made quite a good sum delivering drugs too, but he did it in little polythene bags and sometimes he had to go and stay somewhere else for a few months. He carried a knife whereas the worse anybody round here might have is a little pocket knife they have had since they were fifteen or a fag hook.

Living where I do, I think it is quite a good idea that I should watch the odd Kyle programme so that I have some idea what life is really like outside my rainbow bubble.

OH had a lump on her tongue. GP said not to worry and it was only 3 months later that her dentist flagged a problem. It took another 6 months for the scans by which time head & neck surgery only option. So now I am sitting here on a lazy sunny afternoon waiting while oh has yet another post op restorative consult. So if you get a lump on the tongue get to it. Clarkson had every reason to be worried.

At least I can get a signal.
