So out comes the chicken and salads, places are set at the table for seven complete with knives and forks. There are eight of us in the room!

Nibbles? Finger food?

OH joined them at the table, but I had taken the hump, and said that I was fine where I was. One of our dips was produced, together with some crackers. In the meantime the chicken and salads had been served up.

I’m still waiting for the nibbles and/or the bread rolls, and there didn’t seem to be much chicken on the table.

That was soon explained when one of the women asked what time check-out was the following morning.

Nobody was sure and the woman said that she would take a chance and come back to the unit after the Service so that she could make chicken rolls with the second bird we had seen, so that the occupants of the unit could have them on their homeward journey.

We were not occupants of the unit

At six-thirty, three of the members left for the Men of Songs performance, and that left five of us. What a wild night it was going to be!

Having only had one extremely small piece of chicken, with no salad because there was none left, I ended up having a bit of dip on the biscuits. My exciting and exotic food consumption for the day consisted of one meat pie consumed outside the Church (a good job it was Saturday, not Friday) four or five biscuits and dip and a microscopic piece of chicken.

I pleaded tiredness, and said that it had been a long day and I just wanted to get to bed, so at nine o’clock we left.

The final nail in the coffin came as we were driving past the Indian Restaurant which I thought that we’d be visiting: the staff were just closing for the night!

Bl**dy typical!

We have experienced both no dinner and 2 dinners :-)

Invited at 6 pm for dinner ............. a common time here, means dinner will be about 6:30 pm or 7, never later.

OH absolutely bound and determined that his boss had said "dinner"

so ....................... nibbles, small bits of cheese, crackers, dining table not set

4 guests, 2 hosts

nothing else appeared

we made excuses and left at about 8 pm ............. along with the other guests.

Luckily we'd been busy, neglected to have lunch, so we'd opened a can of soup at about 5 pm, heated it up and shared it

Invited at 7:30 pm ......... very late for a dinner invitation, usually drinks and snacks.

so, we ate at about 6 pm

Dinner served at 8:30 pm
