Thanks RolloTheRed.

Never drink while cycling as you are apt to spill some.

I travel regularly to Sweden. Mostly on Ryanair, but also on BA and SAS. All Ryanair seats can be reserved (£10 or £5) but if you do not pay that extra, you get allocated a seat.

The mad scramble is more likely just to get on the plane asap so as to ensure that you can get your case/bag into the overhead locker. That is if you are in the OTHER Q. If you pay for priority seat/boarding (PIORITY Q) you get on first.

Since its introduction I have tried the Ryanair BIZ fare once for the flight out of Stansted. A poor mans Club class(?) Dedicated check-in for your suitcase and fast track through security. In peak period travel times both of those are no joke at that airport.

2015 so far. Ryanair on time. BA 2 delays - of 1hour and 2hours.
2014 Ryanair one delay of 30min. BA 2 delays. First one I arrived at Gothenberg airport to be told that the flight had not yet left Heathrow. Second one. We were on the plane at Arlanda (Stockholm) for 2 hours before finally all being told to return to the lounge. We were all re-ticketed for the next flight. (To be fair, the captain was not happy with one of the engines. So better safe than sorry!)

Thanks Inky. Interesting. Yes we have been delayed by BA once, Iberia once and Monarch (a long delay once) many times, so far not by Easy Jet.

Have a look at the numbers of passengers at the airport before paying for priority booking. We flew out of East Midlands to Bergerac a few years ago on a Sunday and the plane was nowhere near full yet people were still paying for priority booking at the check-out desk. We got a great seat near the door and with lots of leg-room without paying priority.

Anyway, Ann, enjoy yourself when you get there. As long as they get you up and get you down safely that's all you need. After all, you're only in the air for a few hours.

Airlines to avoid. Aeroflot, and any airline with "stan" in its' title.
