That's where the internet is wonderful!! I know a word, not quite the one I want, so look it up on a thesaurus, and usually find the right one.

Telephone conversations between my sister and I are a laugh.
'Well I've put the thingy's in the bathroom'
'Toilet rolls'
'No'
'Pictures'
'No, I've put them on the floor'
'TILES'
'Yes, I've stuck the tiles down now - they look nice'.
:-D :-D :-D :-D

...and my sister had been tiling the bathroom floor all day!!!
It's just an age thing - we've acquired so many words over the years, and they b*gger off when you need them :-S

To be honest, the gin doesn't help :-D

MAGGIE ARE YOU OKAY

We're now waiting for the change the reduction in medication makes :-D :-D :-D

Must be quite a relief to know you have no signs of dementia - just what everyone else has after a 'certain' age - drag yourself upstairs, then wonder why???

I knew, at the weekend that I had to make 2 phone calls this week. It took me until today to realise the second one was to a chemist to check they really do process films in an hour. :-S :-S :-S

It wasn't important, so brain shoved it to the back.

Hi Dizzi,

I don't often post on your threads but I always read them and, even when you are down, you somehow make me smile. Just keep posting - nobody will care if the words come out wrong sometimes.

I have a little bit of experience with PD as a dear uncle and my father in law had it, and we now have a friend with it. I know they were all affected differently. FIL, who wasn't really a joiner, did get persuaded to try a support group and enjoyed it and found it helpful. When it got too difficult for MIL to get him there, the local branch of the PD Society sent a car for him. Give it a try.

Good luck <3

After the stroke. Fred got his mucking furds wuddled all the time but we still knew what he meant.

Everything only has a limited range of words that are relevant to it, When he told me he wanted Aviemor for lunch I knew that could not possibly be what he meant so we only had a few options to try and I wouldn't think to suggest Tarmac, balloons, false teeth or engine drivers.

I have pointed this out to people who don't read as well. If you are looking at a menu you will not find concrete or chip board written on it so you have far less chance of going on than you think.

Dizzi, I have come across people who go to support groups and they have all said the same thing, whatever their problem was, be it mild or serious - we felt alone until going to the group. Just talking to people who know what you're going through helps.

Go at least half a dozen times before judging it. Get to know the people but be careful as they may get to know Dizzi ;-) :-D <3

Gwen, you must be very pleased with the results of the consultation, and your worries have been eased re dementia.
It will be good for you to go to the support group if you can.

I am sure I speak for everyone here when I say that we will do our best to support you when we can because we enjoy your posts and care about you as one of us, and don't like to think of you feeling down.

Dizzi I can always understand you and I really enjoy your very honest posts. I imagine some days will be better than others so you will just have to say more on the good days. :-) We shall all be sure to make the effort to understand you and I expect it is like it is with children. When you know them you learn to understand and fill in the words they may get wrong. :-) <3
