My Dad was a fireman in the war. Fortunately he survived but saw many poor souls that didn't. He never spoke to much of it as some scenes must have been horrific.
God bless all those that lost their lives and those that still do a fantastic job keeping us safe. <3

One of the most frustrating times in my Fire Service career, was standing on the top of the drill tower in Edmonton fire station watching Alexander Palace going up in flames. Just about every appliance in the division was sent except ours!

Thank you Elizabeth for this reminder.

I was a child when I saw the Tommy Trinder film on TV called The Bells Go Down. It's about fire fighters in the London blitz. What made it so memorable was towards the end a group of firemen are inside a building when it collapsed and they were killed. It bought home to me the perils are not just the fire but also the damage done by the fire can be as deadly. Have always had respect for them since that film.

We should all take a few minutes and thank those who put their lives on the line to make sure we have a safer world to live in. <3

Dear All

Hello

On Saturday, the Firefighters who died in the line of duty by protecting London were honoured at Highgate Cemetary.

"A Firefighter's Tears"

"Today I am sad. I wish I knew why.
But, all I can do is sit here and cry.
As I looked at a book, I remembered that day
when the world stood still, and the sky turned grey.

I looked at the faces of all that were lost;
all the innocent lives, all the tears that it cost.
They were doing their job, they trusted their fears;
they climbed to the top, with all of their peers.

The load that they carried, Weighed nothing at all.
Their hearts were their strength; they answered their call.
So many stood watch as the fires raged on,
And in the blink of an eye, those buildings were gone.

With them they took, the lives of those men
who never gave up, they never gave in.
With helmet in hand, I lowered my head
for my fallen brothers, for those that were dead.

One thing I learned, Hold your head high,
don’t ever stop climbing,
and it's ok to cry.

I'm hurt and I'm scared, and sometimes I'm mad,

But, most of all, Today I am just sad"

With deepest respect to all Firefighters.

Sincere wishes
Love Elizabeth, EOS
