Dear Harry and all

Hello

One thing stands out. Having to read and learn whole section of the book
"Great Expectations" by Charles Dickens for O' Level English.

I have to say I learnt nothing from that.

However, I loved history and geography at school.

The teachers were very enthusiastic about the subject and the students
picked up on this.

Take gentle care
With best wishes to you, Harry
Elizabeth, EOS

I had to study 'The History of Mr Polly' for GCSE. English Lit
Apparently it's a comedy.
I never found anything funny about a forlorn man and his apparently 'hilarious' attempts at suicide.
We also had to study Macbeth.
Talk about depressing!! :-|

..I failed English Lit.

The Macbeth Witches' brew reminded me of school meals.

Thank you Maggie and Dermot for your interest. You hit the nail on the head Elizabeth with 'the teachers were very enthusiastic about their subject'.

Best wishes. Happy days
