Begorrah! Today, I received my first OAP monthly instalment & long may it continue! I’ve been waiting long enough for its arrival. Bad luck though for the younger generation resulting from the pension age being adjusted upwards.

Herself warns me regularly not to die for a while at least - if I can manage it. She worries about such innocent matters & refuses to believe that Workhouses no longer operate. I keep reassuring her of the old peoples' homes down the road a piece where every inmate is kept content with a daily purple pill of some sort. She's doubtful about that.

Anyway, that's what herself said as she sits outside under the sun umbrella sipping tea from our very best china cup - the one & only survivor from our engagement present received during the last millennium.

I'm perfectly happy with my personalised chipped mug purchased by an adoring grandchild at some seaside emporium for 5 bob. Great value those days. And I usually remember to remove the spoon before I drink the contents especially when posh visitors are hereabouts - very strong coffee with just a smidgen of milk. The inside of the mug requires regular bleaching in an attempt to restore its original white enamel look. Tea! Aha that's ok for the delicate ladies with polished finger nails wearing feathery hats.

Must go now - the cat is demanding immediate attention. He has just finished sharpening his nails on my sore knee as I type. Ouch!

Fly - we've got flat mushrooms for the barbie - and I agree, they are lovely stuffed. Especially with blue cheese :-D ;-)
