The first slow cooker I bought and loved was in 1978. Think people get a bit paranoid hearing stories...look at what they said about microwaves,but we're still using them! :-S |

As far as I can tell from googling, in the UK all cooking utensils and ceramic glazes must be lead-free, but the same does not apply to Oz. Bearing in mind that it was written in 2010, this link might interest you. |
