I just had a look in my sewing box.

I have about a yard of red ric rac braid, still in the white paper bag it must have been put in when I bought it . I also have about a foot each of turquoise and white !!

Used to sell loads of it when I worked in the Haberdashery Department of Debenhams when I first left school.

I can still measure a yard of something like ribbon, without looking, withing an inch of a yard.
