Just over a week to go now.

I see the site has been updated but unfortunately the reference to the promised facility about timing and numbers has been removed.

If Bob doesn't then I will.

Oooo...if it isn't raining/low cloud we'll have to get ourselves to open high ground. The cabbage patch field might be a good place ;-)

The planes pass locally on the Blue, Orange, Yellow and Black routes

If you can remember to Bob, could you nudge this thread (or start a new one) the day before please?

This gives the routes that will be flown on 15th September.

That'll be my birthday treat, then!
Last weekend I heard strange engines, looked out of the window to catch sight of Sally B heading north.
No time to grab a camera, unfortunately.
Might get down to the south coast next weekend or the one after to catch the Vulcan at Shoreham or Dunsfold.
Went to Shoreham to or three year back and it was a fabulous display.

I understand there's going to be another at Goodwood on 15 September.

Well. one pm has come and gone. No sound of planes. They missed us :-(

Hope you managed to get a good view OneFootInTheGrave, and anyone else on their route

I think the BBC site had it wrong earlier. Your eyesight is probably OK.

Kense :-) thanks - and have corrected my post and put it down to my dodgy eyesight :-)

Kense

Kense Report 18 Aug 2015 11:08

That should be six Hurricanes and eighteen Spitfires.

OneFootInTheGrave

OneFootInTheGrave Report 18 Aug 2015 11:02

I will be watching the sky down here today. I live about 3 miles from Biggin Hill Airport, and later today,6 Hurricanes and 18 Spitfires, will be taking off from the airport at Biggin Hill for that fly past to mark what became known as the Battle of Britain's hardest day.

It should be quite a sight and something the likes of which I will probably never see again - and as we are more or less right under the flight path for Biggin Hill and with us being so close to the airport itself, they will pass over us at a fairly low height so even the clouds should not spoil our view :-)

Oh that's fantastic! I wish I lived in your area and could see them for real.

Thank you for putting that up Det

I have only just seen your request and would have put up the BBC link

I too would like to be able to see the fly past

At the time we lived near Kenley and I remember it well

I also remember scouring the fields for bits of shrapnel etc :-(

+++DetEcTive+++

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 18 Aug 2015 08:38

Really? Oo, we might catch it if they pass over one now built on. It would be on our horizon but if they have to do a turn? On the other hand, there is a low cloud bank. :-(

KenSE, is there a link to the flight plan?

I envy those in the south of England and hope that the weather is kind.

Remembering the Few - such brave airmen.

Kense

Kense Report 18 Aug 2015 07:38

24 Spitfires and Hurricanes are flying today as three flights of eight. These flights will tour round some of the Battle of Britain airfields.

Kense

Kense Report 15 Aug 2015 08:35

Today at 2pm there should be a flypast over London involving a Spitfire, Hurricane, Swordfish and Dakota plus some Typhoons.
