............. and both OPs have been reinstated.

I must admit, after this past weekend, I am beginning to wonder if there is something more than a dislike of what has been said involved.

I am dubious that there is a phantom referrer sitting there finger twitching. Far more likely they have a software robot watching out for words / phrases which upset it and result in a referral. Sometimes there is a real human behind the RR but not very often I guess.

GRU has all the signs of a software site in dark star mode. Given that it has no advertising and the latest traffic counters are poor the site looks to be in care and maintenance mode with no dedicated staff. Eventually I guess DC Thompson FH will decide what to do with it e.g. move those with platinum subs. to FMP and move the boards to FB.

Rollo .............

I'm not thinking of a phantom :-)

yeah, well fairly obviously you and Errol annoy somebody, quite how I've no idea.

I've been RRd a few times but only by GRU themselves and they have always sent me an email to go on the naughty step.

I always keep a record of anything I post ( since the time of 007 anyway ) and you can always repost using that. And be rrd . And repost and so on.

Rollo

I have a fair idea of who I might annoy ......... and over the years, I've picked up on one or two who Errol might annoy. It's very obvious sometimes :-)

Different people are obviously involved

The fact that GR no longer seems to be sending emails to say WHY a post has been removed is what this thread is all about. The RR'd post either remains or is gone .............. with no information provided.

I do wonder if the RR'er even gets an email as used to happen.

I've RR'd a few posts in my time, for what I considered to be sexist, racist, homophobic or bullying (the only reasons why I would consider RR'ing), and I always received an email that said whether or not the RR had been accepted or not, and why it was not accepted.

An email that said an RR had not been accepted usually had an added comment along the lines of (paraphrased) "GR will keep an eye on this poster".

I have only ever RR'd a post once and let the person know why I had.

I think it's the best way.

AnnCardiff

AnnCardiff Report 19 Aug 2015 21:54

exactly - if you do it, say you did it and why

Rambling

Rambling Report 19 Aug 2015 22:15

Yes but if you DO say you have reported and why there is a strong chance that you will be called all the names under the sun on the board and by PM...

at best you are called humourless if say you RR a joke or "too PC" if you object to something ...or just generally assumed to be 'not on our side'.

I agree with RR ..............

it is very dangerous to admit that you are the one responsible for RR'ing a post.
