I think, having see it so many times at the theatre and always Javert had a fantastic voice, plus of course the Dream team, we were disappointed in RC's rendition of Stars.

OMG - pass the razor blades - sniff, sniff - I'm wrung out - rarely cry in films, particularly on TV, but that gets me every time - so emotional -

Interpretation can take the place of singing ability it's true...but if you haven't got the latter you need the former 'in spades'..it's enlightening to see who has it and who doesn't.

to me, whether they can sing or not is immaterial, the actual music and the songs are brill, as is the acting - no wonder they call it Les Mis - it's gut wrenching :-D

Funny, I was pleasantly surprised by Russell Crowe, having read the reviews i was expecting to be appalled lol, no he can't sing 'Stars' anywhere close to Philip Quast...but he made a good go of it after all.

Russel Crowe was the weak link in the film unfortunately. He didn't have the voice for the part.

Not for me. Its far to long. And the 'singing' is only average.

Got forced to watch it at the cinema and just got bored.

Love "Master of the house" - classic

No Jackman doesn't do it for me, very average.

Little Cosette is good, and Helena B C is nicely nuanced :-)

I don't care what voice Hugh Jackman uses - it's not his voice that interests me :-D

Rambling

Rambling Report 23 Aug 2015 21:50

Why is Hugh Jackman changing his accent, the first song was with a faux Irish accent now he is just nasal....but, on the plus side, he's making Russell Crowe look better.:-)

must say it's made me very weepy - particularly Anne Hathaway with "I dreamed a dream" :-( :-( :-( :-(

I had that 10th anniversary video - the singing may not be "up to scratch" Rose, but the acting is phenomenal - did you notice that Colm Wilkinson, who was on that 10th anniversary video was the head of the monastery who saved ValJean?

Rambling Report 23 Aug 2015 21:24

I don't think I will get through it, I have the 10th anniversary video, which is sublime, and have seen it live, but the singing so far is not up to scratch :-(
