Bruised & sore!

Had the op on Tuesday afternoon, stayed in hospital two nights.

The "small tear' the doc thought I may have had wasn't exactly small. It was LARGE! Keyhole surgery? OK, if the keyhole is the size of an old-fashioned church key! I have a " Y " shaped slash on my thigh, it's about 8 inches long. The tear went from mid thigh to mid glut!

I'm all colours of the rainbow. :-(

I have to wear those awful socks for the next three weeks, and the waterproof (HUGE) dressing doesn't come off until the 28th. I have a walking frame (on wheels), crutches, maybe have to use the crutches for 3 months or more.

Having a shower is a major undertaking! Get the commode seat thingie from the loo, get it into the shower, sit down and try to wash without drowning. :-)

Just thought I'd let you all know I survived :-D but I'm going back to bed now, feeling a bit wonky.

DH is looking after me so well..... cooking lovely dinners & keeping me topped up with coffee & water, and not laughing too much at my spluttering in the shower.

I'm taking it very easy, don't want to go through this again.

At first the doc thought I'd take about 6 weeks for recovery, now he says at least three months. I hope to be dancing by Christmas :-D

Forgot to say..... my right leg from my behind to just below my knee is really swollen. The right side is at least twice the size of the left! Can't get any trousers on, except an old pair of really daggy tracksuit pants, and they're snug.

I'm switching from here to my emails............ 80 of them to get through, but I've deleted loads of them (like the daily kindle lists).

Friends are 'phoning, which is lovely....... but why can't they understand that I don't want visitors??!! DH is in and out all day...... and I would have to hobble down 9 steps to get to the front door. I can't walk very well, and I certainly don't want to be up and down steps all day!

I might make a sign & put it on the front door lol :-D

Good to see that you are home. You will have to tell people that at the moment you are too tired for visitors but you love their phone calls for a chat. Hope you soon pick up and feel more like yourself.

Good to hear that the operation is over and you are now back home. Answer the phone by all means but ignore the door for the time being, you don't want to risk falling.
Give your body time to heal and take it easy now. xx

Well, Scozz, it's over now, take your time recovering at your own pace and enjoy your D.H. caring for you and spoiling you. Your friends must understand that you can't entertain at the mo so will have to limit contact to phone calls.

Hope you feel lots better as the days go by,

Thankyou all for your good wishes <3

I'm lots better today; more discomfort than pain....... until I walk! I can get up and down the stairs by myself, but verrrrry slowly. Not really in the mood for visitors. The black bruises are fading, I'm now mainly purple & orange (except for the cut).

Sylvia...... I have a few sarongs and wraparound skirts that would be comfortable, but they're not floor length. I'm not too concerned about getting dressed, happy in comfy baggy nighties. Anything would look weird with these knee-high white stretch support socks :-(

I'm wearing a purple nightie with a teddy bear on the front, the lovely white socks and Birkenstock sandals. What a sight.

I'm going out on the back deck now, for some fresh air......... starting to get cabin fever.

When the dressing comes off later this month, & the wound has healed, the doc recommends using Bio-Oil! So there you go, it's not just a "beauty treatment".... recommended for scarring by an orthopaedic surgeon.

I had heard about Bio oil for scars so it's good to know it's recommended by the surgeon.

You sound very colourful and I like your colour choice of nightshirt lol

The doc is brilliant, and a really nice man. He has loads of initials after his name, did his training in London, Sydney & China...... he also is very open minded about "alternative" medicines & practices.

He's about 7' tall & handsome. He was born in London, his father is from Ghana & his mother from China :-)
