Yup, eight prunes :-0

Will that be enough to get rid of a logjam?

:-( :-( :-( :-(

Combination of anasthetic, medications & not moving much :-(

Chocolate! Or at least that works for OH. :-D Tomatoes work for me.

Extra water to 'lubricate' things? Before the latest OP, someone suggested pro-biotic youghurts/drinks to rebalance things. The benefits are not all marketting hype.
As a last resort, there's always an enema. :-0

my gran used to have a dose of Andrews liver salts (think that's what they were called) followed by a hot drink. my father only had to think of prunes , and he would be running to the bathroom .. :-)

A nibble of a few dried figs and/or some liquorice should do the trick, Scozz :-D

I find increasing the amount of water I drink from my usual 6 or so glasses a day to 8 or 9 glasses (plus tea, juice, coffee, etc) usually works wonders, but it may take 24-36 hours

Beetroot does it for me :-(
I love beetroot, but since getting diverticular disease I can't eat it (unless I fancy a purge). :-|

After the two "probes" last month, the doc recommended Benefiber. It's easy to take, I just sprinkle two teaspoons of powder on cereal. I had nothing to eat on Tuesday & very little on Wednesday (overcooked hospital vegetables)...... so a combination of everything just shut the gate :-(

I don't want to take anything "drastic" as I'm hobbling around, and couldn't possibly do a mad dash to the loo.

I usually have either porridge or a high-fibre cereal for breakfast, with yoghurt.

The prunes worked a little bit........... but there's lots of noise going on down there... my belly is making noises like an old church organ. Wheeze, groan, gurgle.

DH nearly had something thrown at him when he suggested I eat a few peanuts! He wouldn't be laughing if I did, cos he'd have to clean up the mess.

:-)

If you hear thunder, don't worry, it's probably me.

Having three lots of anasthetic in three weeks does weird thing to one's head.

Not to mention having cameras put in unmentionable places........ and holes poked in a leg to get to the hip joint for more cameras!

Try the heavy duty antibiotics that I am on at the moment. At least, I presume that is what is causing my runs.

I'm taking "codapane forte" & an anti-inflammatory....... less than I was taking to start with, and I hope to be off them by the end of next week.

I'm drinking litres of water & trying to eat lots of fibre..... more tinkers & tailors tonight.

DH is the chief cook for a while.......... and he's doing a great job.

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 13 Sep 2015 09:31

Is that codeine based? One of the known side effects is constipation.
If bending at the hip is painful, it's not going to help you relax on the loo.

All things come to (s)he who waits :-D
