Question for football buffs

I've just been looking through old photos of my dad, and one of them is I'm sure taken at the Wallasey news that he worked at with his brother, from their apparent ages in the photo I'd say it was taken about 1948/9/50 ish.

Here's the thing, I have just realised ( knowing nothing about football) that the 'sports trophy' the staff are all standing around is the FA cup lol. I've found the FA cup seasons details on wiki for all years but my question is do you know if the cup would only have been taken to the final, that is would it have been up on Merseyside only if one of the local teams had got to the final, or semi final?

Liverpool were runners up in the 49-50 Cup Final but the matches were played at Wembley not Wallasey........lol

Maybe it was a publicity thing and the cup was being taken around the country?

Thanks Susan and Cynthia :-)

Good thinking Cynthia, I will see if I can find anything on that.

Rose I have asked my friend in an email if she can find the article in the Wallasey News,
She was born and bred in the Wirral.

Thankyou Sue, I have had a quick google and sent a message to a Wirral history group, also found out via National Archives that the Wallasey News archives are held in Birkenhead, so I might have to make a visit which would be no hardship :-) I was thinking about going up to Chester next month anyway.
