My Teddy was brought by Santa for my first Christmas (1953) and he, too, is stuffed with straw and is threadbare.

He has eyes that are on vicious spikes and has had his straw taken out so he could be washed a few times.

I also had a knitted golly which I called Ann. I had to throw that away a few years ago when it became moth eaten.

Also, I had two other teddies, little ones, one of which was a handmade brown one called Oaktree (seemed like a good idea at the time I suppose).

The other was a yellow one, called Yellowy, and it had held a ball which I didn't like so I picked the stitches out and got rid of the ball.

I do remember having a teddy, which I had to share with my brother. :-(

Alas, it disappeared many years ago :-(

Teddy is somewhere in the loft. OH's Teddy still lives at his parents house, on their spare bed! Both are 'fred-bear' and filled with sawdust. What with the filling and detachable eyes, they probably wouldn't be allowed anywhere near the next generation!!

Actually, I do have a 'safe' doll. Its made of a blue velvet type cloth with a sewn on face. They may find that acceptable ;-)
