Some recommended places to go in Gloucestershire:

At a minimum FreeView pumps out around 30 channels Virgin, Sky, TalkTalk > 100 plus there is catch up TV. Lots of thrilling stuff I guess Challenge, policemen spending vast sums and risking our necks to stop boy racers, Dave. mTV, I dunno 'cos I don't usually watch tv Sat afternoons.

Live sport is a loved by vast numbers of people, rugby, athletics, horses, soccer, US football ... Why those who are not interested in the drama of live sport always have to moan about it I just don't know. If they think it's cool or something well it isn't. People who watch ( and play ) sport also fork out for TV licences and subs.

As it has been a lovely day the obvious option was to take some outdoor exercise and forget about the rugby.

Terrific final btw.

I've really enjoyed it - especially when Wales beat England :-D :-D

I am English ( mostly ).
My OH is French
I have two uncles plus lots cousins and a niece in Oz & NZ
One GGF was from Galloway and he married a Dubliner ; one of her descendants plays for Wales.
So mostly I can root for the rugby winners :-)

Today my heart was with Oz but New Zealand are unstoppable. Oz gave it their all though and it was a thrilling match right to the end. How anybody could find it boring I ain't got a clue.

England need to start again at the beginning with somebody telling them what a rugby ball looks like, where to find one and what to do with it.

Look at it this way - Fewer Countries played in the Rugby WC than in the Football version. Be thankful for small mercies!

Thank you for the travelogue Rollo, your ability to use google is unsurpassed and I have visited most of them, you forgot the docks and the rugby fanzone. :-D

AnninGlos

I totally agree with you.

Here in Oz, apart from being on the sports section of the 'free to air' TV stations' news programmes, there has hardly been a word about the Rugby; for which I have been extremely grateful :-D :-D :-D

Much prefer Rugby Union to football, and it was a good game :-D

AnninGlos - I'm sooo glad you know where you live :-D
Rollo seems to think we 'wimmin' have no idea of either local amenities/places of interest or the local topography :-D :-D

for AnninGlos

I have a lot of rellies in Stroud and Thornbury, lived in Chipping Sodbury for some time. I like Gloucester inc its excellent cheeses. I don't need Google to get around the county! There are though those that have never had the pleasure of visiting Gloucestershire except whizzing through on the M5. They should stay awhile.

Gloucester RFC are a pretty formidable bunch.

Personally I do not care what sport is televised - preferably on a sports channel.

What I think may annoy many people is when they think they are going to settle for an hour of their favourite soaps like Emmerdale and Coronation street, only to find they are stuck with football for ages.

Since Corry is a long standing well loved favourite. always shown at 7.30pm maybe it should remain so.

I don't watch soaps, but understand your irritation, Autumnleaves.
