Shirley~I,m getting the hang of it Report 22 Nov 2015 09:25

I really don't like the House of Fraser advert

Can't see any connection to Christmas at all

Wouldn't draw me in to do my Xmas shopping there :-( :-P

Guinevere

Guinevere Report 22 Nov 2015 09:43

I hate them all, except the Coca Cola one. :-D

JoyLouise

JoyLouise Report 22 Nov 2015 10:12

I agree Shirley and Guinevere.

By sticking to the same tune, Coca Cola does not even need to show a picture until the very end of the ad then everyone would say they knew what that ad was.

I think I've said as much in a previous posting on the subject of Xmas ads. :-S

All C Cola needs to do is to romanticise or jazz up the music one year to keep the energy going.

only thing coke is good for, is diluting my rum ration

oh! and cleaning old coins.......

My friends twins (a boy and girl) are in the Asda advert right at the end.

MotownGal Report 22 Nov 2015 11:03

Do like the Waitrose ad with Cab Calloway singing.

Don't like the John Lewis one this year.

:-( :-(

Adverts, in my mind, should be show-casing items they want us to buy.

Couldn't get the hang of last years JL one. This years is only telling me they sell telescopes. Do they? :-S

'Emma'

'Emma' Report 22 Nov 2015 12:54

My favourite one is Coca Cola, they don't have to
change anything for me, like it how it is.

As much as I have seen of the Cadbury trucks advert
my advise to them, leave it to the experts like C Cola :-D

I find the house of Frazer one very aggressive and total mystery as to it's connection with Christmas. All other Xmas ads are appauling and irritating this year too. :-| :-| :-|

Bah Humbug ;-)

Bobtanian

Bobtanian Report 22 Nov 2015 16:43

I think the J L advert is aimed at not forgetting the older, maybe vulnerable rellies or lonely folk.......

not necessarily astronomy

Lyndi

Lyndi Report 22 Nov 2015 16:58

I think you are right about that Bob - someone told me (so could be fiction!) there was some connection with Age UK.
It really bothered four year old granddaughter, who was worried that there really was just one old man living alone on the moon! :-(
I hate most of the adverts this year but have to confess that as a fan of Mog the Cat I have bought the book in Sainsbury's with the story of their advert. ;-)

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 22 Nov 2015 17:09

I do chuckle at Mog and had not heard of the books before.

The amount of money that has been spent is in my opinion obscene.

I liked the ads before I read this article. Now I'm not so sure.

If however there is money being given to charity then that would be a different matter.
Sainsbury's have some connection to save the Children I believe.

Bobtanian Report 22 Nov 2015 17:24

LOL Lyndi

there are many technical errors in that advert, but hey............who's counting???LOL

Tabitha Report 23 Nov 2015 06:36

Bring back the old M & S one with all the decent actors at a party wearing M & S party clothes. I loved those adds and ones that showed a decent Christmas time.

The food adds from the frozen food shop are quite good too

JoyLouise

JoyLouise Report 23 Nov 2015 14:18

Whoaaaa :-D

See this year's Coca Cola CHRISTMAS 2015 ad on YouTube. It's happy, uplifting and MINUS the familiar tune. The notes are reminiscent of the usual tune and one keeps expecting the full tune to burst forth.

They've foxed us here but I still like it.

They're clever (M)ad men. :-D

JoyLouise

JoyLouise Report 23 Nov 2015 14:26

...... and then the usual truck one with the familiar music, only this year it features a member of the public driving the red truck.

Always a little difference each year but not so much as it to be indistinguishable from previous year's ads.

Kense

Kense Report 26 Nov 2015 19:16

Not a Christmas ad, but I am impressed with the young lady using Amazon Prime who has installed the horse flap within a few hours of it arriving.

Gee

Gee Report 26 Nov 2015 20:14

They've got you all 'talking'.....isn't that the objective ;-)

Rambling

Rambling Report 26 Nov 2015 20:16

I like the Vodaphone one, with the turkey who does NOT get roasted :-D

It does remind me though of the turkey that used to chase me when I was young, he was a fearsome creature who charged across the farmyard when we went to get the milk from the 'safe'

:-D
