Afternoon All.

Weather here dry and very mild - 12 degrees!

Coffee with friends, then a leisurely food shop around M & S and Sainsbury - both so empty I could amble around at leisure and look at things I've not looked at before. Store cupboard stocked up in case we get bad weather :-(

Then ... had my hair cut again, and I'm looking good for Christmas ;-) ;-)

Ann** Our local shops weren't heaving as you'll have gathered but a farm shop charging £80 for a turkey crown!!! The mind boggles. :-S :-S For that, I would want a turkey that laid golden eggs.

A car park barney - who would do such a thing ;-) ;-) :-D :-D I hope you just watched .....while packing your car, of course.

You all sound very busy today - and so you should be. Remember idle hands ...and all that ;-) ;-) :-D :-D

Dermot

Dermot Report 2 Dec 2015 15:30

They're gone!

Being away all day yesterday, I was informed on my eventual return by the local busybody that my immediate neighbours moved out. Two big vans loaded with furniture & other household goods - she said.

Of course, the occupants just rented the house - so no major delay in moving for whatever reason. Not as much as a 'cheerio' or a verbal thanks for regularly keeping an eye on their abode during their frequent foreign travels.

Sorry that they are gone though - they were a very unobtrusive couple. That's life, I guess. :-S

Regarding the huge fire in Newcastle yesterday, It has been confirmed that a body has been recovered from the building this afternoon. Speculation is it may be that of an 81 years old man who lived there.

That's sad, GP. Have they decided whether it was an accidental fire or a Stocktake?

Dermot, if it stands empty for too long, watch out for squatters :-D :-S

GeordiePride Report 2 Dec 2015 16:58

Hi JL - They haven't established what caused the fire but police and forensics are continuing their enquiries. There may be more information given on BBC Newcastle tonight.

BELLLLLLLLLLLLE

JoyLouise

JoyLouise Report 2 Dec 2015 18:33

GP, just reported that the poor man who died was believed to be the owner of the shop so it's unlikely to have been a "stocktake". I hope it was accidental and not arson. The emergency services are still there and the shops both sides of the burnt one are also cordoned off and road not open

Sad, sad time for the family.
