Wendy Report 7 Dec 2015 19:10

I wonder if any other areas have experienced the same thing,i dont subscribe to the sites t----er or f----book,but if anyone does it might be an idea to remind people to be aware this time of the year it might save someone going through heartbreak,
we have enough to deal with from day to day each in our own way and if we can prevent something dreadful,im all for it.

i did try FB but not for long to me all my time to find my way round it.so gave up.
its much bettter on here :-D :-D
stay safe people.

That's a point, Det, but we haven't received any leaflets (as namelessone psychically knew :-0)
I never clean mine out - I double bag everything. :-D

nameslessone Report 7 Dec 2015 17:59

I wondered that, but wouldn't they have leafleted by now?

Just wondering - could a Bin Cleaning service be thinking of extending to your area??

Bins still out = working owners = no time to clean the bins in the evening.

NB - as long as they aren't stinky, life's too short to wash out a wheelie or dustbin....in my opinion ;-)

That's an idea, Mayfield!! :-S

Mayfield

Mayfield Report 7 Dec 2015 14:30

Or maybe train spotters branching out! :-D

Merlin

Merlin Report 7 Dec 2015 14:20

Here,s a thought :-D According to our Council all the bins are owned by them,so as they are their property and are parked on your property should you not be able to charge them for the use of your storage space ?after all they charge you for parking in their car parks so why not charge them? :-D :-D :-D

I gave the date, time and a description to the police in the e-mail, Det :-D

If you can remember, write down a description of the pair + dates and times.

Should you hear of something happening in the neighbourhood (and one hopes nothing will) it might help the police investigation.

Hopefully, Ann, they'll have a coupe of PCSO's hanging around, and/or the occasional patrol car!!

Scary maggie then.

These were empty bins, Bob, and the bins had only been emptied that morning.
They weren't looking in them, just noting down something.

Bobtanian Report 7 Dec 2015 11:22

My son, who works for a recycling arm of the council invariably "pokes his nose" into our bins, to make sure there is no " incriminating material," obvious.

you HAVE seen those documentaries regarding ID fraud? etc......?? surprising what can be gathered from a parcel label.........or a utility bill.....discarded mail, how many people living at an address...........and so on........

Bob

"our lot" will confiscate bins left out too long, too often.........

maggiewinchester

maggiewinchester Report 7 Dec 2015 10:51

Well, thank you, Wendy for putting that seed of doubt in my mind!! :-D

The council phoned this morning. Checking bins isn't one of their 'initiatives', neither is it anything to do with their contractors. I was advised to contact the local police team, and the e-mail has just been sent! :-D :-D :-D

We have three bins, garbage, recycle & green.

We've always used the bins correctly, so we were a wee bit annoyed to get the reprimand because the bag we used wasn't acceptable. It was one of those bags that breaks down in landfill........ I've used them outside for various things, and they've broken up within a few weeks. I guess they're not acceptable in the machine that takes "green" like branches & food scraps.

We have to buy the "green" bags, and they're not cheap.

Recycle & green bins are collected weekly, garbage fortnightly (there's usually very little in our garbage bin).

Dermot

Dermot Report 4 Dec 2015 18:48

The Secret Bin Police were just looking for Jeremy Corbyn's bin. :-D

(That's the best I can conjure up on this dark, drizzly Friday evening,)

Gee

Gee Report 4 Dec 2015 18:22

Our bins are collected by a French transnational company, Veolia

Like most of our services here, they are out sourced :-|

The refuse guys flip the lids and check the contents before it goes into the truck. They only take a glance as fishing around inside is against H&S regs

A few years ago we had a letter (from the council) to say we must replace our boundary wall, if we didn't, the council would undertake the work and bill us. No way was I having the subcontractor 'Kier' (a Danish company) doing the work.......hopeless

Don't we have any British companies that our local authorities can contract to :-|

Maybe it was just 'hug a bin' week.
