Do it Joeva as its not a scary thing

It save so much hassle making your wishes known and why give the heir hunters money and then to family who you may not have wanted to inherit

:-D

Before my daughter's death in 2011 I had no need to make a will, because on my death she and my son would have received half each of my assets.

I now have to make a will owing to the fact that my daughter's share will pass to her three children, which will leave my son's son without a right to anything. Therefore I intend to write my will that my son will receive his half and that the four grandchildren will inherit an eighth each equally..... I think this will be fair to all concerned............ Now to pluck up the courage to see a solicitor. :-(

a will is a clear statement of your wishes. If you want to leave everything to the cat/dog home, you can. No unknown/faceless relatives get hold of your money. And no heir hunting firms get their cut either.

I would second that. Having seen what has happened to people whose relatives haven't made wills, I think a will is essential!

All sorts of distant relatives get bits of the estate, and tracing them all can take ages, and cost a lot!!

I would urge folks though to make a will

It's not an awful don't want to go there and tempt fate thing

DO IT and then forget about it . We did reciprocal wills and just added an addendum when our daughter remaried .

I am now going to put all forms in one place so daughter knows where things are when she needs to sort my estate out

She knows I am having Michael's ashes at home and for me to be with put with him when the time comes . We have to talk about where we go from there but at least I am putting things in place and then sitting back and not think about the future

I really urge folks not to put their heads in the sand but to make wills

There was lots of paperwork to sort out after hubby passed .

He paid all the household bills by monthly directs debit which were OK sorting plus I advised his company pension and state pension straights away

We both made wills in 2002 and I got his will from the solicitor and looked online on how to do probate

Was a bit of a worry doing the forms especially the inheritance tax form even though I am entitied to 100% spousal exemption

I did both forms ,enquiring a couple of times from the probate office on what to fill in for some sections

Well having sent off the forms with the will ,got back a copy with another form and went to a solicitor to swear it ,cost me £7 which was ok

Sent it all back and today got back the Grant of Representation so the probate is now complete

Can now sort out the final parts like the house and some shares hubby owned and close his ISA

What chuffs me is that I DID IT !!! Didn't waste money getting a solicitor to do it for me

Was a worry I must say and was a concern in case things went astray in the post, so much so I sent things by special delivery each time so things were delivered in 24 hours and could be tracked

:-D :-D
