Earlier in the thread, there was mention that an address for James had been forwarded to you. Have you had a chance to write? Apart from asking extended family members via him, we've probably suggested almost all of the options available.

One thing that is worth mentioning is the importance of keeping your GR account linked to whatever email address you use, even if you change suppliers or allow your GR account to lapse. We've seen, particularly on Find Living Relatives, that threads started years previously are found by someone who can give contact details. In some cases they've even been the missing person. Because the original poster had either deleted their GR account or changed email addresses, they themselves became the missing person.
Lapsed account members can receive and reply to personal messages, but can't initiate them.

Sharon.....do you have access to Ancestry?

There are at least three members on Ancestry who have your family in their trees.

One in particular has you, your siblings, your parents and your Grandparents. So I am assuming it is a family member.

You could take out a two week free membership with Ancestry, and that way, you will be able to contact the tree owners.

Ancestry will take your credit card details.........but as long as you cancel before the two weeks are up, they wont take any money from your account.

Or..........if you would like me to contact the member who has your parents and siblings in their tree, I would be quite happy to do that on your behalf.

I could ask if they would be willing to share information with you. If they agree, I could then pass on your email address.

Whatever you do...........don't put your email address on here. We can do that privately "IF" I receive a reply and that member agrees.

The tree name is "Gardiner2"..........Tree owner "Southwell" In case either of those names mean anything to you.

The coroner's report must be pretty harrowing. Just a thought, but ,can you understand it, because there must be a whole load of legal jargon in it?

It is very odd what people will not mention. The maternity home where many of us were born had a devastating fire in about 1950/1 and I always knew that a local woman had lost a baby in it but not who the woman was. There is no gravestone to the baby and nobody has ever mentioned it. It wasn't even the woman I thought who lost the baby.

i see what you mean

i have the coroners reports and newspaper stuff

Sharron

Sharron Report 16 Jan 2016 14:33

Sorry Sharon, I meant that people would remember your siblings from school.

Communities are quite odd about keeping things secret and, I think your dad keeping it all in probably has made people a bit reticent.

It looks like that is what you are after, some sort of clarity as to what really did happen.

I don't know about access to Coroner's reports but there most certainly will be one and there will be newspaper archive from the time.

You so evidently need to get things clear in your mind and I really hope you do.

Sharron

Sharron Report 15 Jan 2016 17:32

Do you live near where the fire took place?

I would image there would be people there who could remember it and your siblings. It might be worth a visit to the pub and the old people's groups there and maybe the church too. Just to talk to people.

Register on FriendsReunited and see if the school has a group. It's possible someone in his same year group has uploaded class photos. There may even be members who were in his class who have a copy they could forward to you.
