Here's a little tale you will appreciate.

Do you remember the roundabout near the old Durham Tech, known as the Blackie Boy roundabout by everyone around here? Not too long ago there was a little consternation from some until it was explained to them that the name Blackie Boy came from the black faces of the young coal mining boys many many years ago and not what they thought. It remains known by the same name. :-D
