In France the lady weather presenters tend to wear apparel suitable for the weather. Given that France is a warm sunny country small wonder the "meteo" is very popular.

When, inevitably, our latter day Mariannes become "enceinte" they carry on much admired by their fans. I have never heard of a complaint. How boring the anglo-saxons can be.

Going back to RMShy's comments regarding tight clothing.

Most of us might be basing our opinions when we or friends/relatives were pregnant 30+ years ago. Fabric manufacturing has come on by leaps snd bounds since then. Garments containing an 'elastic' allow much more comfort and freedom of movement now a days.
Attitudes have also changed. Although we may not have thought we were hiding our condition by wearing loose clothing, the current women in the same position are outwardly celebrating their pregnancy.

In 2011 BBC Scotland had 3 weather girls.
ALL of them were pregnant at the same time and all gave birth within weeks of each other.

BBC Scotland found two males and one female to cover the maternity leave!.

Nasty I know, but... I would have preferred it if Judith Ralston hadn't come back at all.
Her voice irritates me so much
she starts off at a normal rate then speeds up to100 miles an hour
