AnnCardiff

Does the photo you can see have a car in front of the Inn and the front end of a lorry on the left of the photo? Is there a sign advertising Bounds Taxis on the gable end of the shop next door?

I can see this photo but as **Ann* says this is in Far Cotton and not Cookham.

Please tell me it's not me going mad.

Kim, keep an eye on postcards on Ebay, though I can't see one at the moment you might just come across one from the right period which shows the tavern.

Is the site you are on Ann?:-

http://www.phipps-nbc.co.uk/3.html

If so then I still can't see a photo of the Railway Tavern Cookham.

There is one of the Railway Inn but I think that is in Coventry or one of the Railway Hotel with cyclists and a horse and cart with people sitting on the cart.

Think I must be going mad!!!!!

go on this site - scroll down till you get to "pubs in the past" - click on that and a short way down you'll find a good picture of the pub as it was

I've looked at the site you give and I can't see any photos from Derbyshire.

Not sure why you are seeing something different.

I can get the photo of the Tavern as it is now as a Costa Coffee shop but nothing from when it was a tavern.

scrolling down through the many pictures there's a very old black and white picture of the pub with cyclists outside - looks Victorian - on some site called "Phipps"
