All things considered I've been lucky, blessed even

AnnCardiff

AnnCardiff Report 31 Jan 2016 10:22

me too

When I'm worried and I can't sleep
I count my blessing instead of sheep
And I fall asleep, counting my blessings

When my bankroll is gettin' small
I think of when I had none at all
And I fall asleep, counting my blessings

I think about a nursery
And I picture curly heads
And one by one I count them
As they slumber in their beds

If you're worried and you can't sleep
Just count your blessings instead of sheep
And you'll fall asleep counting your blessings.

So if you're worried and you can't sleep
Just count your blessings instead of sheep
And you'll fall asleep counting your blessings.

Me too. I only need to look around and always see very many worse off than we are.

I survived a serious head injury in 1958 and another in 1959
I survived an RTA that broke my pelvis in four places in 1994
I survived an accident in 2013 that wrecked my left leg.
I have survived near bankruptcy
I've survived a great deal of foolishness
I've lost those who gave a damn about me (wife & brothers excluded)
I've been a burden, I've been a crutch.
I can read and write in a world filled with fiction.
I use the personal pronoun I too often.
I can communicate and hopefully I still make sense.

I consider myself fortunate to be able to interact with people on this thread using a
second hand PC I bought when I was nearly 60....never too old

And yesterday through the medium of ebay I bought an e-reader

I consider myself blessed.
I haven´t been through half of what you have, but I have had trials and tribulations what others can´t imagine. I am blessed because I now have a home and husband that I adore with all my heart, for hubby alone I consider myself blessed.

I consider myself blessed .................

in having the chance to go to university by a combination of brains, hard work and an Education Authority that gave me a full grant for 5 years.

In having an pretty enjoyable, though at times frustrating, job teaching in a country town in England, and seeing something different from my cotton mill town upbringing

In marrying the man I did, and in leaving the UK for opportunities abroad 5 days after our marriage.

In finding a job I loved here, and that I stayed in for 30½ years

In beating 2 different kinds of breast cancer 16 years apart, and in not needing to have either chemo or radiation either time

In fighting off 2 different kinds of skin cancer, again without chemo or radiation or even major surgery

In OH fighting off colon cancer, losing 60 cm of his colon in 2005 but not having to have chemo or radiation

In having a beautiful compassionate daughter with a handsome son, a good husband and a fantastic job

We have been incredibly lucky in all that we have done and achieved ....... far far more than I would ever have imagined as a child growing up in that cotton mill town.

Would I not be a liability? :-S <3

Annx

Annx Report 2 Feb 2016 14:28

We can all be a liability David as none of us are completely perfect. :-) :-) You just need a car that will fit around your leg that won't bend. :-) :-) <3

David

David Report 2 Feb 2016 15:54

I agree Annx, if we weren't capable of being a liability there would be little need
for insurance.
OH doesn't seem to be sharing the enthusiasm :-)
