Just got an email from Genes saying that the problem with accessing "My Threads" has been resolved. By George, I think it has! I had no problem accessing it.

I've just had an email from them too. I was told to change the number on the end of the URL address bar and I would be able to access my threads. This does work but I still get the error message page up and have to change the last number in the address bar every time in order to get to my threads. Seems a bit of a nuisance.

I have emailed them back and asked if this is what I'll have to do every time.

To tell you the truth, Kath, I didn't know what they meant by changing the number on the URL. I'm a bit of a computer dummy. I didn't change anything but have no problem accessing "My Threads" so I'm not complaining but wondering how long it's going to last.

Seems to be a fix, change the last number to 1 and then it reverts to 0 next time... but it's still very slow and I will reserve judgement...no mention in the email to the Adv' search failure which I also asked about...am guessing that is one fault which will never be addressed ;-)

I agree Rose that it is still very slow even to get the error page up - I'm still having to use that route. We have 200 mb broadband so it is not down to a slow connection at this end.

After reading your post, Ann, I decided to try it again. Nope, I've lost it! That didn't last long!

Have replied to Karen's email and suggested she look at this thread as it's not just me it's not working for :-(

I also got the email

Still cannot open My Threads .....

so how the heck do I change the URL??

Rambling

Rambling Report 18 Feb 2016 17:34

worked that time

changing the 0 to 1 at the end of the URL when the error message showed

Thanks, Rose, I didn't know what URL that they were talking about. Now I know that it's on the error message. Now are we supposed to go through that rigamarole every time we want to look at our threads?

Changing the last digit seems to bring up Threads Started by Me.

It's a bit similar to the trick of selecting Watched Threads and then My Threads.

(Edit) The action of thhe simpler process accesses data from the server which is then cached. This saves the My Threads function from accessing the same data from tthe server again. That's my take on it.

MM ........

apparently ........ yes!!

I realised after breakfast what they might mean by "the end of the URL" ........ porridge is supposed to be good for the brain cells :-D

So I have just sat through the Error message (what ............. 30 or is it 60 seconds that feels forever?), changed the 0 to 1 at the end of the URL

Got Threads You Have Started

clicked out of that

Clicked on My Threads once again

wheels spun for about 20 seconds, and ................ bingo

I got My Threads

nope, not good enough!

If you right click on My Threads, then Save Link As into the the URL line you can amend it without waiting for an error message.

Jeeez...

Now I'm getting errors just making ordinary posts. Hit the back button and the post is duplicated!. Is anything ever going to work properly round here??

I think that the whole site is running slowly now. One wonders what the so-called technical team is up to now?
