Is the snorer aware the noise is upsetting the person they live with? If they won't recognise the distress, there isn't a lot that can help. |

I was told by all my family that I was coming near to being killed while I was slumbering in bed. My snoring was very bad and so bad I would wake up as if I was choking and heart was racing. No one was getting any sleep. My brother has to have oxygen overnight for the same problem. I went off to see the doctor and was given a hayfever nose spray. Told to squirt just inside and to the side of my nose at bedtime. This was to widen the blood vessels. I have been doing this for 6 months but although not cured, it is so much better now and the household hardly hear me. |

There's no catch-all cure for a multitude of causes. If you read the link, one of the first suggestions is to have a ball sewn onto the back of your pajamas. This is to encourage you to sleep on your side. |

Have a word with your GP. He might be able to tell you why you snort and suggest a solution. |

There is not much you can do about snoring, you either put up with it, use ear plugs or sleep in separate bedrooms which isn't an option for us. A Vick inhaler is quite good, but only gives temporary relief. GP could probably prescribe something more efficient, again, you'd have to talk to him/her about it. |

Get it checked out you could have sleep apnoea. Take it from one who knows it can be dangerous. Snoring can be part of the condition. |

OH's sister has sleep apnoea and has to wear a mask at night. If the snoring really is bad, do get it checked out with the doctor. |

I would hate to be in separate bedrooms, actually I would hate to be in separate beds, and so would OH, but maybe after 52 years we're just kinda used to snuggling up together! As for snoring, we just manage! |

David,I apparently snore like a trooper :-S.I had to share a Hotel room with my daughter recently and she said it was the worst nights sleep she had ever had.I never heard a thing :-D.I lost count of the times she woke me up pleading with me to stop snoring. |
