Oh bless! I miss many people I was close to on here, Gwen included. I was always disappointed that Gwen and I didn't manage to meet up. I have several names and numbers on my phone that I still can't delete, despite the fact that no-one would reply anymore, but the fact that I was lucky enough to meet them in the flesh was a real bonus.

I have been lucky to meet others still here on the boards and hope they will be around for a long time to come.

I spent many an hour 'chatting' to a very special lady on this site (& others), back in the days when 'Gr chat' was just one long thread.
Several years later I met this lady in the flesh, she was nothing like I had imagined her, she was so so much more.

We had many trips out together, scouring graveyards, finding different places to eat ( she did enjoy her cream cakes) & scanning the internet for not only our ancestors, but those of anyone who asked.

That laugh, that smile, that hair ... oh how I miss Our Dizzi.

I have made wonderful friends on here and we are all there for each other. It is great that we have the opportunity to meet up occasionally and can always pick up where we left off last time. They are, right at this moment, offering support and I don't know what I would do without them in my life <3

Having joined genes in 2003 I only ever used it for my family tree as I only had dial up connection on my old desktop computer. It was only when I had a new laptop and got broadband in 2010 that I started to look at the community boards....... read some interesting and very amusing posts on here, but very rarely posted myself.
In 2011 my daughter passed away and shared the grief of my loss with you all and I was truly overwhelmed by all the messages of condolence that I received on here and in pms. The kindness of 'strangers' at that sad time was very uplifting for me.

You are so right Mersey in what you said in your brilliant posting and thank you so much for putting into words how many of us feel and think <3

It did me the power of good to share my caring stint with so many.

It is always good to have somebody to share a funny experience with and I will always be grateful for some of the unexpected acts of kindness that Fred and I experienced.
