Those of you who often shop on Sundays. Get your food in today, don't forget all shops will be closed tomorrow. :-) :-) Or, time to use up what you have in the cupboard/freezer!!!

Around this part of Spain shops do not open on Sundays. Except during August then all supermarkets are open in the coastall resorts.

Mary that takes a bit of getting used to when you are used to them opening. when we are at uzzi's some are open but most not. similar in Tenerife.

I don't mind the shops closing, we don't often food shop on Sundays and I can still remember nothing being open (anyway I was not allowed to do anything but go to church or go for a walk on Sundays) But I do miss the garden centres being open. :-)

Yes, small shops can open. We haven't ventured out. OH spent all morning in the garden, came in for his lunch about two when the heavens opened, now the sun is shining again.

I would find it extremely difficult to be somewhere where shops were not open, after over 25 years of 7 day shopping, and late nights as well. I'm spoiled ....... although we don't take advantage of late hours either .............. it's the thought that we can get food or over-the-counter pharmacy things if we need.

Not that we shop on Sunday, except in an emergency .......

.... we have our newspaper delivered to the house. It isn't published on a Sunday, whilst its sister paper doesn't publish on Saturday while it does come outon Sunday. But that's a tabloid, and not worth getting :-)

I've got used to 24/7 shopping too though most of our big shops closed yesterday. Places like the drug store still opened but had areas taped off, lets hope no one needed make up !

I beieve Tesco which has shops that open all night (except Sundays) is going to stop the all night opening as it is not used.

Ours isn't too bad a few shoppers in and they'd be stocking shelves anyway so why not let people shop....always handy at midnight as Hubby comes home to pop in and get milk etc.

I remember being in scotland one Easter and being surprised that the shops were open easter sunday. Your bank holidays are different to ours I think joan, so you don't have Easter Monday as a bank holiday?

I've just spent a few days in Berlin.
No shops open on Good Friday ( except touristy tack)
All open again on Saturday.
Shops do not open on Sundays at all.

In Scotland, schools no longer get 2 weeks "Easter Holidays"
Schools are closed Good Friday and Easter Monday irrespective of easter dates.

Schools are then on hols for the first 2 weeks in April and is now called "Spring Break"

If I recall correctly, due to bank holiday weekends at either side of the month, there is only 1 full school week during the month of May !

(Being facetious here)

Oh to be a child in Glasgow during May, Glasgow Lass. :-D

Where we live, all of our local stores (the Co-op, M and S, Sainsbury, Lidl, Asda, Next etc) were closed on Easter Day. However, for some reason, the local small NISA shop was open. It surprised me but I think it may be all down to floor size.

Friends, whom I sometimes meet for coffee on Sunday mornings, met at the local garden centre which was open.

I find it strange that some businesses are allowed to trade while others must remain closed.
