We have a bird box at the bottom of our garden for the blue tits to nest in, There are a couple of birds looking at it. The strange thing is that they are trying to strip the wood around the entrance hole away. Why would they do this? |

Hi Jane, your question made me curious so I googled and there's lots to look at. Some say they are testing the strength or clearing insects or just making it how they want. Also a lot of * head banging * going on. The site was RSPB . |

Thanks for your help. I will take a look at the RSPB site and see what it says. This is the first time we have had birds interested in this nest so I will watch it and see what happens. |

sometimes they don't like an "alighting peg" /perch outside the hole, bigger birds can possibly use that to drag chicks out........I knocked mine off |

Us guys know the problem, you move into a nice new house and then the Mrs says "I've been thinking" next thing it's colour charts, kitchen brochures, a new porch and trudging around Dunelm Mills for cushions! :-D :-D :-D |
