I've been a member since 2005.

My subscription expires 22 August, but I'm not renewing.

It's not the cost, it's the principle! I have not paid automatically since 2006, when I unticked the box, but have paid before the due date every year, except for 2013 when someone else paid my subs as a gift.

I have been questioning the amount I have been charged and received this response....(copied & pasted)...

Thank you for your e mail.

The longer a customers has been with us and continually renews the subscription they will have a lower price.

A change was made in your account on the 14 th August 2013 as you manually purchased your new subscription rather than allowing the automatic renewal to continue on the 22nd of the month.

This has therefore changed the amount you are paying.

This can happen when any change is made to your subscription.

If you need any further assistance please do not hesitate to contact us again.



The GR records must be in a mess, as I have NOT automatically renewed since 2006, I have renewed every year before the due date.

It's about time things were sorted, some members paying 6 & some 17 BP.

I've had fun...... I'll be here until 22nd!

So your fee has increased just because you didn't use the auto renew? Assuming there was no time lag, that it is just so wrong.

Apart from the 'help' boards, this site has had its day. So many long term members have left while fewer & fewer people are posting. May be FH has had its day.

You will be missed an I don't understand how they can afford to alienate a good long term member. It is not as if you were not a member in 2013 you were. The problem is we don't have any redress to anyone higher, admin just make a decision and that is it. Soon we will all be leaving I am sure. Are you on facebook? If not please stay in touch somehow.

I'm not sure that GR is worth the amount that LS has said she has been charged in the past :-(

They changed me $13.04 USD, four days ago. Not bad.

I haven't automatically renewed since 2006! Always paid before the due date... one year my subs were paid by someone else, as a gift (I assume before the due date)...... so the GR reason for my subs going up is bogus!

The difference in price is ridiculous, some are charged between 6 & 8 BP, GR want to charge me 17.39BP, which is $30.56Au.

Interesting to see how much RMS was charged! I think $30.56Au is about $30US.

If GR decide to charge me a reasonable amount, I might renew, but on principle I won't be.

I don't understand the concern about unticking the auto renew box. Mine is always ticked and they have never automatically renewed my sub without informing me first. They usually let me know a few weeks in advance that my sub is coming due, they let me know how much I will be charged, leaving me plenty of time to cancel if I so desire.

They charge me £6.75 annually.

Yes, I'm sure, GlasgowLass, The following is c&p'd from their message:

You have been billed £6.75 GBP for a 12 month Standard membership.

Some people are still paying £6.75 for 12 months because that was the amount they were paying in ca 2006.

The original GR was taken over by ITV in 2007, and longtime members were grandfathered to continue receiving the sub they were paying at that time. ITV raised the cost of subs, introduced the 6 month sub, and also different sub levels.

Others, like myself, were paying £6.75 for 3 or 4 years after 2007 but then it was increased in 2 stages to £8.75, which is what I paid last year.

The amount paid by "old" or "original" members was increased if they broke their subscription either by not renewing OR by upgrading to one of the new levels (eg Gold or Platinum)

ITV sold GR to BrightSolid in 2009 ....... and there has been no rhyme or reason since then in the cost of subs for the "old" members.
