Last night there was a very loud party next door to me outside. Ended up I had to call the police as a fight broke out and my downpipe was broken. The young man (mid 20's) who father rents the house (but not there last night) decided he'd get his own back on me for calling the cops by mooning in front of my window....forgetting I have security cameras. This morning one of the hung over guys knocked on my door asking for his car keys as he'd left them here last night.....my house looks nothing like the party house !!
So taking into account the father is even worse than the sons, who would just put up with the noise and damage most nights and who would call the cops ???

Hope you kept a copy of the recording! As it's most nights and damage occurs to your own property/home, I'd certainly call the cops. You can only be tolerant for so long.

If you don't want to do it too often, you could keep a 'nuisance' diary with times, duration and events + photos of any damage that occurs within your own boundary. With enough evidence, the landlord/owner could evict them.

Trouble is the landlady doesn't care and thinks they're fine upstanding citizens which doesn't say much about her does it. Yes you're right and we are keeping a record. As for the video, hubby wants to put it on youtube !!!

We have very noisy parties which go on late 3 or 4 times every year, lots of live music nothing recorded. Some of the media people are quite well known / on the way up and really know how to party. The neighbours are all invited and never moan - free nosh, free booz and the chance to have a selfie with somebody who might be famous one day.

The downside is dealing with all the lost property the next day as you say. And of couise the expense of a couple of bouncers to keep the riff raff out. Valuables and such are all put away securely.

At a pinch in the city a party once a month might be ok ish though imho pushing it. Every week is plain unreasonable and prob. not much of a party anyway.

Landlords don't care what their tenants do so long as it is lawful, the property is not damaged and the rent gets paid. Anybody who meets these conditions is not going to get a blast from their landlord that's for sure. The police are all busy running call centers.

We also have parties a few times a year, but ensure there is no-one nearby who would be disturbed. The campsite we (regularly) take over is very remote.......
Food and booze is free - well you bring something to share, and someone else eats/drinks it - it's free to them :-D
Live music is also 'on the books' - you should hear us singing when we're p*ssed! :-D
As for someone famous - there's always my brother, (name by request) or Les - he's regularly in the local newspaper :-D

Don't get me wrong I'm not anti-party just anti loud parties most nights within approx 5 feet of my and my kids bedroom windows. Speaking to the neighbours today they all heard this one for streets around not too many happy people.....if they do one tonight might be a lynch mob happening...not me I'll be asleep with ear plugs in.....

maggiewinchester Report 10 Sep 2016 22:24

I 'overheard' (not difficult as they tend to shout rather than talk) my neighbour on the phone, in the garden, complaining that they never know whether I'm in or out, as I'm so quiet :-S
I found out why they were in 'angst'.
They had a party when I was away on holiday.
The police were called,
It wasn't me :-D

They know I know the double insulated breeze block construction in their garden hasn't got planning permission - it may have wood on the outside to make it look like a shed, but it isn't. Also, in this area, if you're going to build something with foundations, you need an archaeological survey.
They've tried to 'counteract' this by saying my neighbours don't like my (slightly overtall) leylandii - actually, neither do I, but my response was - 'Well, they haven't told me'.
I'll also cut them down when it suits me - not them.
I've lived here for over 25 years - and we don't pull punches. If it upsets Tim over the road - he'd tell me.
I also worked at the local school, so, to be honest, no-one tangles with 'Miss',
They move in and verbally abuse people for parking in the bit of road outside their house, as though it's theirs. They're in a no-win situation with that attitude!!
:-D :-D

Maybe one more 'It couldn't have been me, I wasn't there' phone call, and one more comment from them, and, if I can be bothered, I may report their illegal structure. :-D :-D :-D

martynsue Report 11 Sep 2016 17:07

if you complain to the environmental health they will monitor and issue them with a order to cease the noise, should they choose to carry on the council can put a order on them, private or council rental they can be removed and the property, this is a new thing ,I think they can be removed for 6 months even if they own the property.

We had noisy neighbours in our first house, final straw was playing Pink Floyd's "The Wall" at full volume 3am in the morning, neither I or the neighbour the other side could get an answer at the door.
We put the house on the market the next day, it was years before I could listen to that song again! :-P :-P :-P

GlasgowLass

GlasgowLass Report 11 Sep 2016 19:20

There are very few loud parties in our street.
They happen very occasionally and as they're not a weekly, or even regular event, we wouldn't normally complain

However, last night, we experienced nuisance of a different sort.
Our living room is at the back of the house and overlooks a park .
The floodlights in the park turn off mid evening and it's dark out there

About 10pm, I got the fright of my life.
Suddenly, there was a bright green ball of light dancing around the room, bouncing from wall to wall.
OH and I both jumped!
The vertical blinds were closed tight but OH went the widow and spotted 2 young lads with a laser pen in the park.
The laser had passed straight through the vertical blind and into the room
It went on for about 30 mins and the ugly light continually came through the living room as well as the glass panel on the back door
Luckily, for them, it could not pass through the venetian blind at the kitchen window.

If they come back tonight... heaven help them!

AnninGlos Report 11 Sep 2016 20:55

Besides anything else laser lights are so dangerous. If it happens again I would ring the police.
