How do you know the police aren't pro- active?
Oh, and the 12 bodies are now irrelevant?
These were from 'various canals', so one can only presume when bodies are found floating, or snag in cables, they are removed - that strikes me as pro- active.

One can only presume the police will have De Mooi in to question him, whether it was in self defence or not - dead bodies usually have living relatives.

But, you've had your say, and according to you, there's nothing of interest in this thread anymore.

In the words of Charlie Brown: Good grief!

Rollo, twice you have posted plainly nasty comments, when I have pointed out an error in your post, and your comment about Ann's comment was unnecessary.
Therefore, to quote you

"If you post diatribes against people you don't like for one reason or another don't assume you will get no opposition".

Perhaps you should re-read your posts and take your own advice.

As for your end comment about Brexit - what is that all about? Are you assuming everyone on this board voted for Brexit? Where is your evidence, and whilst we're on the subject, why does every thread you post on have a reference to Brexit?

I'm sure if I included a mention of chocolate cake on every thread, you'd have a 'dig'.

RolloTheRed Report 23 Sep 2016 19:42

try and read your lines properly

The Dutch police become aware of around 12 bodies each and every year dead in the canals of Amsterdam. That does not include ones they didn't find - they are not very pro active on the matter.

Now de Mooi claims he was attacked in 1981 so all the Dutch police and their version of Silent Witness have to do is suss out which dozen ( from 400 ) may have died around 1981 and match the sparse description and location given by De Mooi. There are a lot of canals in Amsterdam.

Simples.

In the wildly unlikely event that the Dutch police ( as much under the financial cosh as the Met ) could get budget for this they would still face the problem of getting some evidence linking De Mooi with the killing which he claims was in self defense. They obviously hope that they can grill De Mooi into revealing further information though the chances are he couldn't add much to his story anyway which might well be untrue in any case.

If this story had involved anybody but a very minor tv celebrity who has managed to get under the skin of some people it would not have made page 5 of the South Wales Echo.

move on, nothng if interest here

I'll post whatever I like thank you - and I am aware his post was reported, not by me - that's why I clarified what I posted

and I really don't care a jot if I get opposition to any of my comments

Bobtarian's post has been rrd though not by me.

If you post diatribes against people you don't like for one reason or another don't assume you will get no opposition. Best idea is to drop such thinking move on and try and be positive. Dream about the joys of Brexit and that nice Mr Redwood for instance.

There is always Twitter or the Independent comments page.

It appears the Dutch police have recovered 12 bodies from the canals of Amsterdam - so there is some evidence.

...and I shall use exclamation marks whenever I LIKE (and capitals)!!

FYI, I can't stand 'text speak', I also didn't 'pick you up' on your use of 'who' when it should have been 'whom' :-P

.....but then some of us have a life.

AnnCardiff

AnnCardiff Report 23 Sep 2016 19:14

I merely confirmed Bobtanian's assumption - nothing more, and my comment about him getting life was very tongue in cheek - FGS Rollo - move on!!!

RolloTheRed

RolloTheRed Report 23 Sep 2016 19:06

Apart from adding nothing to the reason(s) why AnnCardiff thought that De Mooi's choice of partner was relevant to his arrest just why do you think this uninmportant and irrelevant information requires an exclamation mark ?

maggiewinchester

maggiewinchester Report 23 Sep 2016 18:01

I thought Ann was giving her opinion of him, then just pointing out a fact - he's married to a man!

Bit better than rambling on with opinions, pretending it's fact.

RolloTheRed

RolloTheRed Report 23 Sep 2016 15:43

what relevance has that to his arrest ?

Under current English bail conditions de Mooi could well find himself required to answer bail for months while the authorities attempt to dig up some evidence. Some judges have been highly critical of this abuse of process. UKIP have been highly critical of it in other countries but never moaned about it in the UK.

It all depends to what degree the UK court decides to humour the Dutch as they faff around looking for evidence. Given the current trend to "take back control" quite likely not all that long.

De Mooi has learned that those who make a living out of being self publicists should watch their step. At least he knows he won't be executed twice over in AnnCardiff's self appointed court of public opinion.

I danced a jig to freedom 23 Nov 2001. We all have our little lists, let none of them be missed.

If he classes himself as "handsome", that must make me the queen of sheba.

As previously said, i find him arrogant, smug, etc.
And he should not have been on eggheads for 2nd time, let alone 1st.

maggiewinchester

maggiewinchester Report 22 Sep 2016 21:29

As Ann said, his real name is Joseph Connagh.

Apparently, He adopted the name de Mooi when modelling, and he translates it as Dutch for “handsome”.

Modesty obviously isn't one of his greatest strengths.

RolloTheRed Report 22 Sep 2016 20:09

some people are getting a little ahead of themslves - the EAW requirements though scant do demand that there is an arrestable offence. So far they have just got what the guy wrote in a book - whuich is not admissable evidence - and that's it. They don't have any details of the alleged victim such as a name and crucially no body.

I wonder if they will trawl the canals ... might be interesting

RolloTheRed

RolloTheRed Report 22 Sep 2016 19:01

I wouldn't know never having seen "Eggheads".

A EAW are only supposed to be issued on the basis that there is sufficient evidence to support a charge.Unfotunately some countries atre abusing the EAW using it for such stuff leading sometimes to long periods of imprisonment prior to trial.which tends to be dropped at the ;last moment. The brexiters have, quite rightly, complained about this but T May has chosen the EAW as something she wants to keep from the EU.

Even though an EAW cannot be challenged in a UK court.
Or a US extradition order either come to that.

"Take back control" - yes, but from who?

InspectorGreenPen

InspectorGreenPen Report 22 Sep 2016 18:52

Yes, he is an arrogant, smug, pompous irritating person.

Apart from a couple of topics he wasn't that good on Egg Heads either so goodness knows why they asked him back a second time after getting rid once.
