It appears the Dutch police have recovered 12 bodies from the canals of Amsterdam - so there is some evidence.

...and I shall use exclamation marks whenever I LIKE (and capitals)!!

FYI, I can't stand 'text speak', I also didn't 'pick you up' on your use of 'who' when it should have been 'whom' :-P

.....but then some of us have a life.

Bobtarian's post has been rrd though not by me.

If you post diatribes against people you don't like for one reason or another don't assume you will get no opposition. Best idea is to drop such thinking move on and try and be positive. Dream about the joys of Brexit and that nice Mr Redwood for instance.

There is always Twitter or the Independent comments page.

I'll post whatever I like thank you - and I am aware his post was reported, not by me - that's why I clarified what I posted

and I really don't care a jot if I get opposition to any of my comments

try and read your lines properly

The Dutch police become aware of around 12 bodies each and every year dead in the canals of Amsterdam. That does not include ones they didn't find - they are not very pro active on the matter.

Now de Mooi claims he was attacked in 1981 so all the Dutch police and their version of Silent Witness have to do is suss out which dozen ( from 400 ) may have died around 1981 and match the sparse description and location given by De Mooi. There are a lot of canals in Amsterdam.

Simples.

In the wildly unlikely event that the Dutch police ( as much under the financial cosh as the Met ) could get budget for this they would still face the problem of getting some evidence linking De Mooi with the killing which he claims was in self defense. They obviously hope that they can grill De Mooi into revealing further information though the chances are he couldn't add much to his story anyway which might well be untrue in any case.

If this story had involved anybody but a very minor tv celebrity who has managed to get under the skin of some people it would not have made page 5 of the South Wales Echo.

move on, nothng if interest here

Rollo, twice you have posted plainly nasty comments, when I have pointed out an error in your post, and your comment about Ann's comment was unnecessary.
Therefore, to quote you

"If you post diatribes against people you don't like for one reason or another don't assume you will get no opposition".

Perhaps you should re-read your posts and take your own advice.

As for your end comment about Brexit - what is that all about? Are you assuming everyone on this board voted for Brexit? Where is your evidence, and whilst we're on the subject, why does every thread you post on have a reference to Brexit?

I'm sure if I included a mention of chocolate cake on every thread, you'd have a 'dig'.

maggiewinchester

maggiewinchester Report 23 Sep 2016 20:20

How do you know the police aren't pro- active?
Oh, and the 12 bodies are now irrelevant?
These were from 'various canals', so one can only presume when bodies are found floating, or snag in cables, they are removed - that strikes me as pro- active.

One can only presume the police will have De Mooi in to question him, whether it was in self defence or not - dead bodies usually have living relatives.

But, you've had your say, and according to you, there's nothing of interest in this thread anymore.

In the words of Charlie Brown: Good grief!

I would question why anyone would try to mug a homeless man (as De Mooi claims he was at the time), and why, when he'd knocked him out, De Mooi then throw him into the canal to drown.
If he'd just left him on the ground and walked off, that man may still be alive.

My comment was the result of my observations of the character , on the many times I watched Eggheads...RR'd or not, that was and still is my opinion of him/her..

Bob

Maggie "homeless" people are often singled out for a mugging, maybe the mugger thinks they are an easy target..........

maggiewinchester

maggiewinchester Report 23 Sep 2016 21:40

I agree Bob, but not sure its too common.

There was still no reason to hang around (if he was so scared) and throw the unconscious man into the canal.

Just as an aside - Kevin Ashman (another Egghead) was born and brought up on a Council Estate in Winchester.
Oh - and Peter White (blind broadcaster) was brought up (in between attending a school for the blind in Worcester) on a different Council Estate in Winchester.

It has been mooted by some that Council estates equal ignorance/lack of academia/education. Not so.

AnnCardiff

AnnCardiff Report 23 Sep 2016 22:19

CJ himself was also homeless at one stage in his life

maggiewinchester

maggiewinchester Report 23 Sep 2016 23:33

So was I (I think)!
I lived in a tent in the Shetlands for 6 months, as there was nowhere to rent.
But then the tent (small 2 man tent) was, to me, my home, but I suppose that could be considered homeless :-D
I was never attacked by, and never attacked anyone though (but that sheep that got into the tent when I popped out for a pee in the wee small hours had a close shave) :-|

I also lived in a converted double decker bus as a child (just missed out on the windmill - I wasn't born then, but my 3 elder siblings were) and caravans, both as a child and an adult. Doesn't really make me 'trailer trash' does it?

On paper, I'm considered quite intelligent - and, somewhere, I've got those bits of paper to prove it :-D
I'm very untidy, though, and if anyone but a future employer asks me to prove I have those bits of paper, I don't want to know them. :-(

Sorry I have been busy!

I RRd Bob for calling the man a poof!

Even though I dislike CJ intensely he's GAY and even I would afford him the courtesy of that label and not some 60's insult!

Agree, Sue.
Nomatter what a person's sexuality, race, religion, colour, disability, 'class' (if a person's going to go down that route) if they're a nasty piece of work, they're a nasty piece of work.
No need to 'do a Daily Mail' segregation act!! :-D

What's in a name?

About 30 years ago I worked with two colleagues who had been given the Christian name/fore-name Gay.

While one seemed not to care, the other was more than a tad annoyed that her name had been hijacked by homosexuals and lesbians. She refused to use gay as a noun or adjective to describe them and, as I could see her point and she was a lovely colleague, I never used 'gay' in that context again.

I still don't, preferring to use the words 'homosexual' and 'lesbian'. An old allegiance, I know, but a valued one and I always wonder how many more people there are in her position who feel aggrieved about it.

My guess is that fewer young ones will be named 'Gay' in future and as it is such a pretty name that conjures up happiness it seems a shame.
