Sandra,

Your subscription only gives you,

1,Access membership to the site that allows you to use all boards to post on.
2.To contact other members who may share ancestors
3,The use of any free credits given for subscrbing,(a token gesture by the site)

Anything above when credits have been used to continue searching and viewing indexes and records need an extra premuim payment.

All free credits have a shelf life and if you need to returned to an already viewed record, then it treats it as a first time view and deducts credit accordingly.,,any viewed records in your own interest is best saved to your computer.

Credits that have been bought as a one off for a few £ also have a shelf life,I think 30 days.!

You might have bought a standard subscription in the region of £20 p.a. There are loads of variations although that is the standard rate for 'new' subscribers. That does include 50 credits.
Have you bought additional ones?

Copied from 'Credits' link at the top of the page.
200 credits Only £17.95
Credits are valid for 90 days
View records on a pay-as-you-go basis
Send messages on a pay-as-you-go basis
Unlimited access to the records you have viewed for 90 days <<

50 credits Only £4.95
Credits are valid for 30 days
View records on a pay-as-you-go basis
Send messages on a pay-as-you-go basis
Unlimited access to the records you have viewed for 30 days<<

Platinum rates which allow unlimited access are advertised on this site as
12 month plan £6.67 per month* Save £159.36 a year compared to the 1 month plan
1 month plan £19.95 per month*

* Prices above expressed monthly.
Actual payment will be taken in one lump sum for full value of membership.

Go into 'Account' at the top of the screen and see if there is additional info there. It could help you work out what might have happened.

Thank you everyone for your information. My enquiry to them was along the lines of: If I have bought a one year's subscription which seems to give me 120 credits and I have only used up about 30 of those in my searches-why have I only got 25 credits left? Seems the maths here is a bit off. Why do I use credits anyway if I have paid for the subscription?

They don't have a support team just auto reply. Once in a while if it's a dull day somebody from FMP has a trawl through the inbox for support / RR and that's about it.

GR used to have all sorts of neat features such as printing trees, advanced search, integrated smart maps, easy to use photos in the trees .... whenever any of it breaks they just take it away. A lot of new members son't realise the help they get is from other members not GR customer "support".

GR is a 100% subsidiary of D C Thomson Family History which includes Find My Past. Formerly it was part of Bright Solid another DCT company which provides computer services. DCT are better known for their highly profitable publishing division which includes "the Beano" and "the People's Friend". I suspect that the RR ID is located within P.F.

DCT are not the least sentimental about their titles and if sales fall off the title soon gets chopped a good example being the fairly recent disappearance of "the Dandy". It is not much different with the family history division where their main focus is now on profitable digitising contracts. GR is hanging by a thread thanks to a commitment DCT made when it bought the product from ITV.
