Anyone see the news item on these on BBC this morning? They should not be marked "flushable" as they are not and they cause major blockages of sewer pipes. |

I NEVER flush anything other than loo paper. I use wipes sometimes to clean the toilet, but always bin them. |

There's been so much publicity in recent years regarding wipes causing sewer blockages, its surprising anyone still takes the risk. Even the smallest bathroom has space for a small bin. Pure thoughtlessness & laziness. |

I don't understand why it's taken so long to warn people. A plumber told me in the early 1980s about nappy liners made of the same material as the wipes. He gave a warning to several mums in our area after a main pipe got blocked. Mine were out of nappies by then. |

we were told back in the 1970s that disposable diapers (sorry -------- nappies) were NOT disposable down the toilet, despite what it then said on the package. |

When my sister, mum and I went on holiday in a hired camper van, we were told Tesco's 'luxury' loo roll was the best to use, as it was least likely to block the system!! ;-) |

we used to have a house on an acreage further north. There was no sewer system because it was so remote, we all had our own septic tanks or septic fields. |

We had a problem with blocked sewers a few years back, turned out to be the elderly lady putting wipes down the loo, then it happened again, it was the next door neighbour giving her grandson those 'kan do'wipes for the toilet when he stayed with her, which was quite often. Now she looks after her cousin's twins but must have learned as we haven''t had further problems. Come to think of it, haven't seen them advertised lately. |
