Do you power walk or mosey?

PatinCyprus

PatinCyprus Report 28 Oct 2016 10:45

Both, my dog likes to have a sniff around then she's off to her next area she wants to investigate. We mosey around the areas she likes to check on but we power walk between, that's if about a dozen steps can count as power walking. :-D

On the beach with her long lead she walks twice as far as I do as she investigates both sides of the path.

I have never had a dog I could seriously power walk with. They all wanted to investigate too much and the male tried to mark every tree and lamp post in the area. :-)

I'd like to power walk but Ralphie likes to mosey...so we mosey :-(

In fact my walks are very much like PiC's :-D. He too would like to mark every tree and lamp post and often ends up just going through the motions :-D

We do both. My dog Tegan is a Lurcher so we power walk, I let her of the lead, she runs like the wind. Then we mosey on back home. Great.

I got my new little 4 year old dog from a Rescue Centre in September. She only stands about 12 inches high to her shoulders but goes like the wind too. So I enjoyed the power walking. Now I'm afraid I have had to slow her down as I bought some wellies that have turned out to be rather heavy, not for her... for me.!!

She is a stubborn little madam too as if I want to go a certain way and she doesn't she stops and won't budge another inch. I keep telling her I am the boss but to no avail. :-D :-D

I would LOVE to walk our darling Charlie, but she died in July. I still miss taking her for an early morning walk. And taking her for a pee about 8pm.

Beloved, took her for a walk at lunchtime. He always said he would be about 10 minutes, but it was more like an hour. Charlie loved to sniff her way around the circuit they always took.

My mother had a Yorkie which she loved to bits. A grand little dog full of fun.

At the other end of the scale I had red setter which loved to run and loved to mooch. He was trained as a gun dog and used to "point". He used to run with me ( this is in France where life for dogs is much less restricted ) for miles. Never enough miles for him.

One day we were passing some small kids on the pavement when one walked out right in front of a truck. Quick as a flash he jumped and knocked the little girl to safety/ He was not quite quick enough though. I still have his lead hanging on the door.

One day I'll get another dog. One day. But not in England. Meanwhile I go running with a ghost.

Try hanging on to a Great Dane when it sees a rabbit......

Mostly moseying, but ours was a nightmare as a 'teenager' so then it was power walking/running. He took off once whilst I was fiddling with his lead. Third finger wasn't broken but went various shades of purple, bled profusely and shed its nail. It's still 'wonky'. Also got cracked rib when he charged at me, on wet grass, and I went down like a ninepin. He's all grown up now and still has mad moments, but moseying is fine!

Thanks all - I loves to hear doggie tales, tails even, mine multi tasks with his.......door knocking, sofa beating....... :-D

He's a mosey and nosey man - he just has to catch up on the doggie telegraphs along the street and thinks shop doors are open for him - he always gets a 'hello beautiful!' so it's hardly surprising. We live in a small town where owners are generally known as Mr/Mrs Dogs name LOL
He likes a snuffle round the woods and an off-lead runabout over the fields.

The only power walking we do is when I spot tempting morsels on the pavement before he does. Then it's short lead held high and a quick step until we are past, his little feet hardly touch the ground never mind his snout :-D :-D

I asked 'power walk or mosey' because a regular dog walker who goes past our house doesn't half shift! His dogs little legs are almost a blur :-0 I don't think I could keep up with them :-0
I wouldn't mind our little fella going a bit faster though as I'd benefit more from the walk :-)

We had a Beardy X and was full of life. Loved to run and play so we let have it. It's just nice to stroll along chatting to others too.
Also a good time to think things over if you are by yourself.

Can't stand those who cycle with the dog on the lead.

There are also those who jog with them too not giving the dog a chance to have a sniff.

Remember once I was out with her and a guy with two daughters all on bikes and a lab on the lead, Ella got close and the Lab lurched and pulled him off his bike. :-D

Ella went to where doggies go 2 years ago.
She was 17yrs 3mths.

Youngest dau came with me, eldest wasn't keen. But she said she was glad she did come cos it was a closure and it was her first time with a pet.
