Yes they uphold the law.....but in the eyes of many they sit up there on their pedestals totally out of touch as do many rich people. Why shouldn't we know something about them ?
As for your toilet reference.....seriously how is that not bordering on censorship....don't read a certain paper fine but I've feeling you'd not be happy until it was totally out of print, but we can all say that about lots of papers or tv news......you have the freedom to choose no one forces you to read for instances the DM so why bother.

Caroline Report 13 Nov 2016 11:48

Back to the stop funding hate
They will only be happy I assume when the only press available only gives news they are happy with....so they want to censor.....

Guinevere Report 13 Nov 2016 11:52

As Sheila says the judges are there to uphold the law. That's their job, their personal circumstance are irrelevant. The law is the law and it's their job to interpret and uphold it, their personal feelings and circumstances don't come into it.

I don't read it, I never have. Why is my comment inferring censorship? If people want to read it, or any other paper, fine. Just because I hate it, others may love it. Members of my family read it, I don't hate them for it. The only way it will go out of circulation is if people stop buying it - and that is unlikely to happen :-D

Moaning about inequality and being 'out of touch' has nothing to do with applying the law.

Guinevere Report 13 Nov 2016 11:54

Caroline, you seem to be doing a great deal of projecting. Maybe they will be happy when all newspapers report accurately and without prejudice. I don't see anything wrong with that, do you?

Caroline

Caroline Report 13 Nov 2016 12:04

I might project as you say but I don't dictate.
You'll never have a totally free media and by it's very nature it's meant to make you discuss issues.
I have no problem with someone holding a different view from me but I'd never treat them badly for it.

Integrity has become obsolete.

It would be incredibly difficult for all journalists to report all known facts on major events without additional editorial comment.

2" column articles v 2 + pages of additional opinion or background reporting? It would hardly be worth publishing & would stifle discussion. We'd all be asking what haven't we been told.

Dermot

Dermot Report 13 Nov 2016 12:14

Where is Katie Hopkins these days? She rarely remains silent on diverse topics for too long!

Caroline

Caroline Report 13 Nov 2016 12:33

Running with the media should tell the truth...what about the BBC not telling the full facts about Sharia law in the UK ?
When Muslims countries don't apply the Saria law as harshly as they do in the UK how can that not be reported .

Guinevere

Guinevere Report 13 Nov 2016 13:23

It is widely reported.

You must have missed it.

Katie is going to live in America, she promised she would if Trump won.

Dermot

Dermot Report 13 Nov 2016 13:41

Oh dear! I am disappointed.

Donald will be pleased to see her as he obviously was when Nigel showed up.

Guinevere

Guinevere Report 13 Nov 2016 14:39

I strongly suspect she won't go, sadly.

JoyLouise

JoyLouise Report 13 Nov 2016 14:43

OMG, Trump, Farage and Hopkins. :-0

What have the Americans done to deserve that? ;-) :-0 :-D

On the newspaper front, as I wrote previously, each has his own agenda. It's the nature of the beast.

AnnCardiff

AnnCardiff Report 13 Nov 2016 20:34

confused here - what hate campaign are we talking about here?

Guinevere

Guinevere Report 13 Nov 2016 21:13

It's a campaign called stop funding hate, Ann. They try to persuade businesses not to advertise in newspapers who they feel propagate hate.

There's a link in an earlier post of mine.

Their latest "success" is persuading Lego to stop advertising in the Daily Mail.

Gary Lineker is trying to persuade Walkers to stop advertising in The Sun.

Caroline

Caroline Report 13 Nov 2016 21:27

Like I said before it's not so much the campaign but the fact we don't know who is funding it, I think we should have clear information on that.

Guinevere

Guinevere Report 13 Nov 2016 21:41

If it's a registered charity that information will be available. I only found out about them this week, so don't know much at all. Richard Wilson seems likes a genuinely decent chap, though.

Caroline

Caroline Report 13 Nov 2016 22:25

It's not a charity that I'm aware of more a protest group and yes they only really seem to be getting known this week......just because he seems to be a decent chap doesn't mean he is though in this day and age.....or he might be who knows.

Better then to reserve judgement until we do know!
