OFF TOPIC... The nurses home opposite Newcastle General Hospital had stood vacant for a long time. So, the local government decided to put the Asian immigrants in the City in there. A practical demonstration of kindness aka charity.
The new occupants of the nursing home were each fed and given "pocket money"
Before too long the rooms inside the nursing home were being vandalised and on more than one occasion fires stated. Some of these immigrants were from a war zone.
They roamed the streets at night scaring the locals.
The reason (or one of them) they had learned that the people on unemployment benefit were being paid more than they were being given as pocket money :-S

Not putting pressure on anyone at all. We live in a democracy, I am aware that everyone has different opinions and that's fine. I merely questioned whether people were just using the post as a conversation instead of the proposal. Thank :-)

Mark ............

I have posted on this thread, but I have not signed your petition, nor do I intend to .................

I do not live in the UK.

I have no right to vote (even though the British government is intending to extend that privilege to Brits who have not lived in the UK for 15 years or less).

Nor do I have the right to sign any petitions.

That does not mean that I was not interested, nor that I did not feel that I had the right to post something that I thought was relevant.

As it happens, I did find the thread interesting, and with relevance to what is happening world wide ..............

The number of posts should have no relationship to the number of signees.

Otherwise, that is you putting pressure on others, and I'm pretty sure that is wrong.

In many cases there but for the grace..........

Can't hurt signing it can it unless you're really strongly opposed to the idea.

If we put ourselves in the same situation how would we feel. I am very fortunate that I know I will get 2 meals a day, I don't eat breakfast but that's by choice.

To my mind, the whole economic crisis was caused by greedy bankers.

It really riles me that RBS (72% owned by 'us') managed to make yet another loss - for the ninth year running - this time £70bn.
...and I've no doubt the (b)anker in charge will get a stonking great bonus :-|

If any of you support this petition spread the word to your friends. I'm sure Mark will be grateful.

I think all of this thread relates to feeding the hungry and finding homes/jobs for the homeless..who want this
.Sorry Caroline for jumping on a soap box and I hope that this petition gets results..it is a really worthy cause. <3

It's ecomomics... The value of a product is defined by the cost to manufacture distribute , service and the end cost is paid by the consumer. Wages are not the issue..the cost of employment to employers and the taxes applied from the start to finish are what matters. All these cost have a pyramid effect
Everytime the government introduces yet another cost to the employer ...manufacturer ,the prices to the consumer will increase. .. :-( They can fob the employees off with income tax reduction but they now have Nest pension...increase in NI contributions ..retirement age has been increased, state pension will reduce..

The need / demand for a higher salary is the result of previous wage increase forcing up costs. How much is £1 worth now ? Not a lot.
